I am self-employed and in a money crunch so it's a no-brainer! What a nice thing to do for the T1 faithful. Or should I be suspicious?

Well, pricing is sensible issue, but what's so negative in what was said? There have been tonnes of positive posts, too, but unfortunately the negative ones keep overshadowing them no matter how hard I try to just tune them out.
I don't need negativity from my brother musicians.
I bought it, not because of price, but because I prefer it over any other sequencer or package.
Might be that bigger part of users are mainly attracted because of 80 + 20$ price, in this case sorry if I brought some mess to your peaceful campus.
As musician and producer and studio owner, for my own tracks I use Tracktion, although can use Cubase, Samplitude or other that are on disposal for my clients.
In same time it is clear what should be improved and we all know it is neither easy nor cheap.
In relation to bundled plug ins, they are not free of charge, even if developed fully by third party, so even if 30% of total costs go to the third parties for plug-ins, it could be used for development of core Tracktion functions.
Better question would be:
How much you would be ready to pay for Tracktion that would incorporate all functions you are looking for?
-300 $, 500 $ or more?
As I do not need video related capabilities, surround, as well as, 99% of bundled plug ins, mastering tools etc., but look forward for simple, stable, excellent sounding and flexible routing DAW (T2 presently fulfills it at 70-80%), I would say that even 500 $ is bargain for such solution.
In any case when Tracktion reaches very high level of its development it would definitely not cost 150 $. Sooner the better, but obviously here opinions differ.

@GYang:
"what's so negative in what was said?"
Tracktion2 does not cost 20$.This is a special offer Mackie is making for T1 users. Some of whom are (god forbid) even poor students. When being approached with such a generous offer, you say "thanks". You do not criticize the person/ company making you that offer.
Also:
"20$ = nothing!
OK, it is good for poor students. "
Doesn't registered as very positive, especially considering some Tracktioneering (myself included) are in fact "poor students".
"How much you would be ready to pay for Tracktion that would incorporate all functions you are looking for?

No, never. I find there is no justification for paying such prices for my host. Another reason I got Tracktion.

GYang, the only reason i can think of that you maintain these viewpoints is that you seriously believe you can only have a worthy product if it cost you a lot of money. if it makes you happy to need to spend more money on something, then go for it!!
Kick, punch, it's all in the mind.
