The one big thing it doesn't have that T has IMO is the ability to edit in the tracks. This for me is T's greatest strength and something other sequencers don't generally do.Being able to eye clips and notes in relation to other tracks is just too useful.
I don't quite get that... you mean you can view the arrangements of each individual track and see how they all work out?

Like..in a tracker you can see more channels going on at the same time?

I heard that God has decided to end all existence, since Live 5 makes it useless. :-o  :o  :-o

I think the original poster shouldn't sniff glue and surf KVR at the same time, personally. :P :hihi:
Bandcamp: https://suitcaseoflizards.bandcamp.com/
Linux Mint, Waveform 13 Pro, U-He synths, Audio Damage effects,.

The better question would be how do they approach it now that Spike is gone... Since they were probably looking to use one to help sell the other and vice versa... Wonder if they come out with a new Firewire device to replace spike?? :?:

live has this too though (you are talking about live right?)

mmm.. only in the same way as a guitar 'leads' a new user to play open stringed strums all day long.. ie: you can create any style of sequenced music in live.

Post

Of course - you can play Bach fugues on the guitar. but it would be easier on a clavichord!

I liked live much better when they used to call it E-Jay.

Freaking loop software.

I must've missed a press release... Spike is gone?

Someone mentioned in a thread recently that a large vendor told them they aren't going to restock any inventory, and that T2 would not be bundled with it in the future... At least I thought I read that?? If not, I stand corrected...

:(

Post

I read something similar, but it was more related to availability of T2 to purchasers of Spike boxes that include T1. I don't recall anyone saying that it was discontinued. I would be surprised if it was dropped already, as they've still been making a fairly big push for it. :? Then again, you never know. Capitalism is funny and unpredictable at best.

The day Gol admits anything is as good as Fruity, that'll be a sign that existence is coming to an end.

whatever happens to spike, tracktion, live or any other audio production software will not keep us from making and recording music.

regardless of what is available as a recording software product from ANY company, ingenious people will find a way to keep progress moving forward.

so im not worried one bit.

tracktion could dissapear from the planet tomorrow and i'd not miss a step. im sure jules has other irons in the fire in case shit happens. he'd be stupid not to. <hint hint jules>...

but there are kids in magnet schools and colleges all over the planet learning computer science and engineering, and they are the next generation. so were good to go.

things WILL happen to tracktion some day, but probably not tomorrow or even the next few years. thats my prediction, and i have really nothing to base that on; but it's a gut feeling i get just from being around and seeing things... hard to explain.

tracktion is extremely new to mackie. theyre not going to f**k them selves in the ass the day after they started distributing it and advertising their hardware products alongside it. you know what i mean? they're gonna keep this shit available for a while. it adds functionality to the hardware. and they're probably in a contract for a few releases with jules anyway.

the panic and worry and word of mouth for the baseless speculation contained in the original post of this useless thread could what will drive tracktion into the ground...

things are said... people repeat it. it gets around. people stop buying tracktion, and mackie for a while. business slips, tracktion is dropped, mackie drops the desktop production systems... and we're f**ked.

then we'd all have to go buy tascan x-48's. think of the trouble. watch what you say! people read and people talk!

this thread should be locked. it's destructive.

Its about what tools you prefer of course.. I think there's a misconception amongst some people (indicated by some posts here) that live is a 'loop toy'.

Live is the easiest tool i've used for creating my (non loop based) music. Just recently i've noticed (to my surprise) that i can work more quickly in it than i can in tracktion.
