If you had thrown it in, it would have been even cleaner! :)

A regcleaner doesn't really clean stuff, it deletes stuff. Its the only thing it can do to fullfill its menial purpose. Sometimes this is a thing of beauty as 5,000 useless keys are deleted. Other times when an impatient, frustrated idiot, er, user, gets their hands on a regcleaner, the poor 'cleaner' panics and deletes stuff it should never even dust.

But what the hell were you doing in the registry?? Playing, Hey, look at me, I'm Uber Geek?? :D

Messing with the reg without parental supervision is the fastest way to hose Windows. Next to pressing the Start button. :)

Glad to hear you got it sorted. Now that you have a backup of your reg, for even more fun troubleshooting, do you want to know which keys to delete to stop the keyboard and mouse from working?

Thats exactly what I was doing. I figured since its been running so well for the last 3 years, I must be some kind of tech expert. Thats usually when I go in with the tool belt and make an idiot out of myself.

Anyways why even have reg cleaners then?! It just gives you along list of stuff it THINKS is bad. Who the hell is gonna sit there and read 2000 reg entries to figure out which are good and bad? Absurd.

Reg Cleaners are good when you know what kind of fish you want to catch. Like when some installer caks and leaves a 1000 'temporary' key trails behind. Or some uninstaller, doesn't. But, yeah as an automated decision making tool they can really suck.

And by the way reading through a list of 2,000 reg entries is just the sort of stuff the Uber Geeks love to do. And is that the kind of life you want?

Were you using RegCleaner (the one named such)? Intereting.. I use it all the time to auto delete and clean the registry, and it's never botched anything on me. Interesting! happy you got it all back tho! w00t! :)

Aren't they the ones with the pithy slogan:
"Rid you system of all those memory-hogging fonts"

Or get Regcleaner. It's pretty good. But nothing beats pulling up regedit and playing computer god.
