I think the Nits haven't been mentioned yet although they would highly deserve it. There was a time when (I think) Super Channel played a few of their videos ('the train' and 'in the dutch mountains') but then everyone seems to have forgotten them although they steadily recorded one great album after the other.

I once started a thread in off topic about their last album and there wasn't even just a single reply although they're both outstanding and unique. :? :-(

Oingo Boingo.

I know Elfman has an amazing career, but whatever happened to the rest of those guys?

Jerky Versions of the Dream?
I had it on cassette around '84.

FFF (aka French Fonk Federation).
I've seen two live shows of them and I'm not sure which of the two has been the best gig I've been to in all my life.
One of their albums was co-produced by Bill Laswell, but they never made it much outside of france and in their own country they've only been something like the best kept insider thing because their stuff was boycotted by the radio stations due to political content in their lyrics.

Incredibly funky and gifted musicians.

OMG, how could I forget THE THE!!! Totally agree (have to disagree about Marc Almond, though; never "got" him).

The Nits! YEAH! I remember one night in, oh, 1991-ish, me and a buddy caught the video to "The Train" on MuchMusic, and we were just mesmerized. I went out and got the "Hat" EP the next day, and it didn't leave my CD player for a year! I didn't keep up with them, I'll have to check out the website. Great band!

Jeez, I'm a huge Laswell fan, I've been living in France for the last 12 years, and I didn't know that! I'll have to try to find that one.

A voice like that and he vanishes to appear ten years later with a drug-rehab face singing a song that could be a jingle. What a waste.

Yeah I remember being 15 and somehow someone gave me a copy of Symphony or Damn, it became the soundtrack to all the pathetic school based romances for a while..it's actually a good album, if you see it for 5 pound or under go for it!!... (this was nestled into the steady diet of Cypress Hill, Funkdoobiest, NWA, Ice Cube etc...) Ok that's it.

I agree; TTD was a wasted talent. Like Prince (around the same time), he just got too introspective to keep the audiences coming back. Too bad.

To be honest, the CD isn't sounding too great. I think it's "Free For Fever" Laswell was coproducing.
Great tunes on that album nonetheless.
Unfortunately FFF isn't even playing live anymore, from what I know.
