T1 NFR licensing Questions

I understand that I can only run T1 on two machines, which is fine.

But it also says that if you reinstall T1 (such as in the case of a reformat) that you might get a new machine ID. But then it also says that you can only get so many new machine ID's, before it prevents you from unlocking it. This is to prevent giving it to all your friends (understandable).
You can change the two Machine Numbers above if your hardware changes or you want to run Tracktion on a second PC. Please note that to prevent people from giving out copies to all of their friends, there is a limit to how often and how many times you can change these numbers.
So if these numbers keep on changing everytime I reformat my computer, and there's a limit, then what's the limit?

If you're wondering why I am concerned, it's because I blow away my XP installs a lot, be it for housekeeping issues, or hard drive upgrades. For instance, last year, my desktop went from a 40gig EIDE to an 80gig SATA to a 250gig SATA, all with fresh installs.

I am honest in that I don't share T1 (as much as I'd love my friends to be able to collaborate with me) but I do do regular reinstalls, for legitimate reasons.

I was just wondering if it's a limit as far as how many times in a given time period, or if it's how many times indefinitely, and that one day I will end up with an unlockable T1 app, even though I am still on the same MAC address, same motherboard.

I think if you grovel you'll find a sympathetic ear.

I've blown key change limits on a number of CR apps (inluding Tracktion) and generally a polite email explaining my situation was all it took.

I don't know how much Mackie have tightened the key chnage period, but it certainly seemed like once every couple of months or so didn't cause undue problems when the licensing was handled by Jules.

If you are reinstalling with a greater frequency than once every three months then you need to quit, and get Norton Ghost instead. Life's too short.
Someone shot the food. Remember: don't shoot food!

It's not a set limit, it's a frequency limit over a period of time. In general, if you do run into problems, just contact tech support and they will sort you out. We are not out to hurt registered users which is why we have such a flexible authorization scheme. We think pirates should be hurt by copy protection, not legal users. So format your hard drive without worry. Maybe someday you can upgrade your T1 NFR to the full T2 version. :)

It's never more than once every 3 months, so it doesn't sound like that'll be an issue.

Well yeah that's the plan! I want to learn the ropes of this one completely though, and then I'll be doing an upgrade to T2. The looped recording thing is what peaks my interest most.

That and I hope Jules fixes the strange Rewire latency issue; but seeing as how I am learning programming myself, stuff isn't always as easy to fix as it seems :D And I completely understand the delay in that, and wait patiently for it. I found the workaround works well anyway.

that's not a bad idea; I might end up doing that. I see www.atomicpark.com has it for $40, which is pretty cheap.

That'd probably do the trick for me.
