Anyone got Rhino2 working on Receptor?

Maybe there is a "trick" ?
I put Rhino2.dll in a folder called Rhino2 under unsupported plugins. I put everything else in my Rhino folder from the PC in Samples/Rhino2 (this I learned by trial and error).
And it finally plays, but the GUI is completely hosed up...scrambled up letters and fonts. And sometimes when I go into edit mode it reboots my Receptor.
But is IS functional, because the "current bank" and "current page" areas will show me the current setting and let me change it, and it plays beautifully. But I sure would like the full GUI (especially the patch browser/librarian functionality with the categorization and such).
I read in another post that someone out there had it working, please tell me how? (and the DB here says it works too, but not sure if that was 2.03 or not).

Yeah..I got it working too. Tick and I actually worked together to get it to work. I did what you did however. I don't see any GUI scramble though. Let me check as it's been a while since I instigated it.

It looks like on Receptor any dynamic text on the Rhino 2.0.3 GUI is actually displaying the arguments of a regular expression. I've mailed Patrice a screenshot to see if the problem can be tracked down.
BTW Hybernation, you should just put everything into the unsupported folder (i.e. a Rhino folder containing the dll, .db, .dat, etc. files and all the sub-folders). You shouldn't need to put files anywehre else (I don't)

Thanks Ben. Actually, This is what I tried initially, and I got a pop-up message saying it couldn't find rhino.db and it was looking in /Samples/Rhino2, so that's why I tried the other thing. My version is 2.03, by the way (maybe that makes a diff, don't know).Ben [KVR] wrote: BTW Hybernation, you should just put everything into the unsupported folder (i.e. a Rhino folder containing the dll, .db, .dat, etc. files and all the sub-folders). Hopefully they can fix the other thing with the GUI. This is one beautiful sounding synth. TC's patches for this one are especially amazing.

I also used 2.0.3. I installed on my PC, dropped the key file in the directory and checked it worked on my PC. Then I copied the Rhino directory over to Receptor and installed it. When I instantiated it it popped up a message saying it couldn't find the path to the install dir and to select it, which I did and all was fine!

AH! I should have read that message closer....didn't even try to select it! Ok, now I get it.../Samples/whatever is just the default where it looks for stuff.Ben [KVR] wrote:I also used 2.0.3. Thanks again.

GUI works perfectly over here.
HOWEVER
The only thing is that you have to select your presets inside the Rhino Edit screen, and it does not save the patch when you save as a multi-patch. I also tried creating my own Rhino bank within receptor ( like I did for WS) and it still does not work...so you can only select your patches inside the Rhino Edit mode.

Yes, I have noticed what you mention with the presets.tconrardy wrote:GUI works perfectly over here.

Regarding that GUI corruption issue: I've followed that up with Ben, looks like a tricky incompatibility in the Receptor emulation layer. The good news is, there is a workaround available, in the form of a patched rhino2.dll, that you can now download from the private area of my site.

Thanks so much for your prompt support, Tick. I've just reinstalled Rhino2 to my receptor with this patch, and it works flawlessly. I believe I have a new favorite synth on my Receptor as of just now. May have to go buy some of the add-on soundbanks now!

sorry to say..this version did NOT work with my *particular* receptor. Hope I can install my other version !! It installs, but when I try to go into edit mode, I see the GUI with half the features, then it reboots receptor. Tried cleaning out the cache several times, with no go.But thankfully renamed my other dll, so trying to re-install that again..RRRRR..sorry tickBig Tick wrote:Regarding that GUI corruption issue: I've followed that up with Ben, looks like a tricky incompatibility in the Receptor emulation layer. EDIT: I was able to install the older version, so I am happy.Should have let well enough alone if it works
