I'm experiencing some glitchy behaviour in T2 with my new setup for which I would value your assistance.
Recently I upgraded to a new 20" G5 iMac, replacing my trusty old G4 700
With my old computer I would occasionally get complete audio cutouts. Everything in T2 on the screen operates as normal but silence only through the sound card. At the time I put these problems down to Sampletank 2 XL, which is my main sound library, although I'm not certain this was the cause. From memory I would delete the filter and replace it and this would kickstart the audio again, although it didn't happen often.
On my new computer it's happening all the time now
The sound device is a Tascam US-428. At first I thought that it was a driver issue but yesterday I worked for hours with the Tascam and my Pod setting up guitar sounds. The audio never cut out once so it's a 'within Tracktion' issue.
I have found when the audio cuts out I can get it going again by clicking 'restart audio device' on the settings page. The other day I spent the afternoon working on a jingle and had to restart the Tascam maybe a dozen times, a major drag and interuption to workflow. I was working alone but this would be even more of an inconvenience if I was recording a client
The problem is not a CPU issue as both Tracktion's CPU meter and menu meters indicate only slight CPU load when this occurs. It can't be a hard drive speed issue either because the (!) symbol doesn't appear when the audio cuts out. I've tried changing latency settings as well to no effect. It might be a Sampletank issue perhaps although tonight it happened while only mixing a half a dozen audio files with a single instance of Ambience in the output section
Could anyone suggest a way that I could proceed to solve this issue, or do any of you have an idea what could be causing this?
As always I would very much appreciate any assistance anyone could offer
Thanks in advance
Steve
