I seriously don't think so.mman wrote: Anyway everybody is saying that heavy type is more difficult to replicate, so my guess would be, clean and crunch is an easy task..... really hope so....
For instance, while PODs and VAmps offer a few clean/crunch models which are working fine in the pop/fusion department, I have yet to hear some truly punching crunch sound, such as a Plexi Marshall with a proper booster/overdrive in front of it. The same goes for, say, a bassman clean (or very smoothly overdriven) sound. Or a medium cranked up AC30. Or just a Twin.
Seriously, I find it rather easy to achieve a proper heavy sound using a POD XT (just listen to what prizo posted), but I can't seem to find any proper setting for that in your face crunch.
Now, I don't own a POD XT myself (just the old POD), but I've been using it often enough to feel somewhat familiar with it.
I really wish someone would come up with a sim doing these sounds well. Personally, I just love those hard crunch sounds that you can even overload with FX (or hide in the mix) - while they're still cutting through.
