I've just ordered ChineeErhu and hopefully I'll receive the email soon. (Haven't received the email with instruction to download yet, I'm anxious!!!) This will be great for the type of music that my band is playing (Vietnamese/Chinese pop).

I might go ahead and order the Wind VSTi, too. But I need to receive Erhu first :)

You're going to love it, I guarantee!

A little tip to sequencing any kind of instrument is to listen to a lot of recordings of the real instrument, or even better, watch performances (live or recorded). That way you can pick up little nuances in the instrument and be able to sequence them when appropriate. You also just get that sound in your ear, so you have something to aim for.

I'm a Vietnamese and my band play lots and lots of Vietnamese/Chinese pop which have that sound so I'd say that I'm very familiar to its sound/nuances :) I'm downloading the soundbank right now as I'm writing this so hopefully in the next 10 mins. or so, I can give it a shot :)

I got the Erhu up and run and Cubase... Fantasic sound! It's so good I can't believe my ears! However, I have some problems and question:

1. When I play Erhu, I got glitches randomly! The sound just chokes for awhile, and then stop... And then comeback again, which is annoying... I tought that it was my soundcard, but then when I bring another VSTi, I don't have the problem, even for a long period of playing time.

2. At the website, it says that the current version (update) is 1.01. I don't know if my version is the latest one or not, when I click on the "About" button, it displays "Version 1.0". So it might not be the latest version. Where can I get the latest version?

Other than the above problem/question, this is a wonderful VSTi!!!

Thanks,
Kenny.

Hi Kenny. Welcome aboard.

1)About the glitches: What's your host and system spec?
2)It should show up as 1.01. I guess I may have placed the wrong installer at the FTP. Will drop you an email with updated url later today.

EDIT: I've just checked the installer and it's 1.01. So you should be fine...

Hi SSWA,
Yeah, the "About" page show Version 1.0, but I check the .exe file and it says 1.01... Here is my spec:

Cubase SX 3
Toshiba tablet pc. 2 GIG RAM, 2 GHz Intel Pentium M. Edirol UA-25 interface.

Thanks,
Kenny.

I'm reading the help file right now and see that the samples are recorded at 16 bits. My project is set at 24 bits, would that cause the problem described above?

Thanks,
Kenny.

What are yours HD specifications ?,

- the Ernu is a sample-based VSTi as much as i know, the problem could be related to it.

Hi Kenny. I have just talked to Shan about this. He said that the 24 bit/16 bit settings have no influence on the performance.

*about the version number, you might have to adjust your resolution/font size...

*about the glitch: have you checked the DMA settings of your hard disk? Shan think that's one of the possible causes.

Hi SSWA,
I think I know the problem, but I don't know if there is a fix for this... This problem occurs ONLY when I have my internet connection on (I'm using wireless by the way.) Turn off my internet will solve the problem (on both stand alone or with Cubase)... But I don't have that problem with other VSTi (both stand alone/Cubase), so I don't know what is wrong. For now, whenever I use Erhu, I'm just turn off my wireless and it's great!

One more question: It seems that only registered users will have the 15% discount on other products... I'm not a registered users now since the 2-week period haven't come up yet (for the registration), but I want to buy ChineeWind now... Is there a way for me to get the 15% discount now?

Thanks,
Kenny.

Post

Kenny, thanks for the feedback. About the discount...it would defeat the purpose of the bundled deal/intro deal for existing loyal users if we break them up. Drop us an email and see if we can arrange something else though.

Well, since I like Erhu so much, I've just ordered ChineeWinds :)
