I've taken this a step backward in technology, but have kept to the same theme. Presenting, from Lunch Money's DIY funtastic workshop: PanelStomp!A3ntar wrote:Yes, it is very specularative!spuddle wrote:Make sure you have plenty of nice specular on that smooth wood.
I present you....TADAM!!!!!!!
The NEW and ENHANCED Super Stomp IO!!!
Worth more than a thousand picassos!!

Each segment of the wonderful fake-wood paneling conceals one of 3 momentary footswitches-- 1 to my PCR-M50, and 2 to the TonePort UX2.

Thanks for your comments. I'm trying accelerate the tempo but dont know yet how to do it without making a mess. How I add oomph to the backing track? More notes in a more complex arrangement?Lunch Money wrote:Yup, the mix sounds great, VaiHalen! EXCELLENT tone, too, IMO. Then again, I seem to like most of the tones posted here. The actual "performance" of the backing track (ie. other than the guitar solo) lacks oomph. The whole thing seems about 2 or 3 bpm too slow, too.
Also, when you transition from one "take" to the next mid-solo, there needs to be a smoother cross-fade or smoother editing. You want to create the illusion that it was done in one go.
BUT, back to the tone: I think it's great. GR2 is obviously capable of good smooth solo sounds!
The solo was done in a go, I figured it out, practise two times and record; I have to play it again
I Appreciate your comments.

"Oomph" doesn't mean more notes or more complexity-- it just means playing with conviction. If the backing track is primarily based on a MIDI taken from the 'net, it's going to be very difficult to make it more 'lively'. That kind of thing comes from the performance, not from the engineering or the number of notes.
If all parts ARE a performance, then the answer is simple: play with more conviction!

That's what you hear through the compression of the audio? Impressive ears there.Guitarjeff wrote:Raphael rocks. The tone is so-so though. Thin in the upper registers. A Les Paul Custom doesn't generally sound that thin. It sounds better before he brings up the volume knob.

It's obvious. It sounded that way in person also.spuddle wrote:That's what you hear through the compression of the audio? Impressive ears there.Guitarjeff wrote:Raphael rocks.
