Any signal going from the mixer to the speakers?

ok i just dramatically fixed it, not sure how
but there's still a very bit of slight delay/echo....so i guess i'm gonna get a new soundcard??? This is going to solve my current latency problem???

Any suggestions? I'm not wanting anything spectacular sounding here, just to fix latency and that's it! the cheaper the better!

Any significant amount of latency (ie. 10ms or more) will make your playing feel lagged behind. Are you still hearing 2 signals through your speakers, or are you noticing a delay in the speakers compared to your playing realtime? Depending on volume levels it might be hard to test. Headphones will do the trick, isolating you from the "real" material so that you can tell if it's 2 signals you're hearing for real, or just 1 signal + realtime.

As for soundcards, I guess it depends on your needs. The best value for money going, IMO, is the Line 6 TonePort UX2. But it all depends on what you're using it for.

I am noticing a delay in the speakers compared to my playing in real time. It used to be 2 signal sources but I found a way to properly use just one signal source. I've reduced the latency as much as I can, i have some ASIO settings as well, set the buffer real low and still hear the 'lag behind'. I just want a soundcard that's real good with latency, and can be used to record vocals as well.

OK, the problem's definitely solved now, then. Just wanted to be sure. ;) Now your only problem is latency.

There are hundreds of cards to choose from. In addition to vocals, what will you be recording?

Even for a non-guitarist, I think TonePort's a pretty useful unit. However, for a similar price, there are definitely other options. It's mainly a "steal" for the singer who also plays guitar or bass, or a bassist/guitarist who also sings. :D

lunch money
are you talkin soundcards? or external recording units? Isn't the Toneport a recording unit? I've got a mixer already for the vocals, I just wanna fix the latency so when I use the amp plugins i can play along etc. My whole objective is NOT to get an external guitar-recording unit (toneport, pod, etc) and just use what I've got now...

Sorry, sounded to me like you were looking for a soundcard recommendation. TonePort is a soundcard. If you mean self-contained multi-tracker (ie. portastudio), TonePort is NOT one. It's a soundcard.

You can certainly get decent enough results with what you currently have. For better results, you might want to give ASIO4ALL drivers a try, if you're not already doing so. ;) If for no other reason than alleviating a headache, I'd still recommend getting a new soundcard some day.
