Let's keep this top of the forum! As far as I know, I don't think there is any pop style brass plug in or decent sound library for receptor yet, or am I wrong? I know there's loads of classical brass sections on GPO and others but it's just not the same. I used to love the SRX10 expansion card on my Roland XV5080 for pop soul brass, with all the velocity switching for falls and stuff. Kick Ass Brass sounds like it's exactly what's needed for a great plug in for pop/funk/soul type brass.

So whats everyones opinions on the Garritan Jazz and Big Band compared to this Chris Hein Horns?

Success!!! Thanks to Matt from AMG, Dave from Muon Software, Ben from KVR and Farhan...I am pleased to report that Kick Ass Brass works incredibly on the Receptor. Very nice sounding instrument. I would recommend this for any funk, soul, latin and Jazz type application. Very responsive. The full versions take a while to load. 10-12 secs but the Economy versions are much easier to bring up and for live apps they will work great. Thanks all who helped out in this.

Post

wow...would u please let me know how you did it? Is it troublesome to get it to work?
Also, what brass combos or solo you use? :help:

Post

There's an update for the KAB plug-in that fixes the problem. I expect AMG will release it publicly soon.

Post

Ben thanks again.

King David: to install you go through the Unsupported method and follow the same instructions that AMG provides for windows machines. It'll take no more than 5 minutes. With the new .dll from AMG it will work ASAP as long as you follow all the instructions. I play a combination of music from funk to country and for this type of live work, I believe KAB is stellar. It blows away my Roland Fantom X's brass and I liked that brass. I use the 4 piece section and made a 5 and three piece for variety. The solo saxes are great. This product would work well in a sequence too because you could then add all of the falls and expressive parts. That's a bit harder to do with one multi. But keep in mind I've been running it one night so far. Great product.

Post

Fantastic! Well done guys

Do you have velocity switching for falls etc or keyswitching?

Gary

Post

To be honest I'm not sure but you can set up a multi in Receptor for velo switch if not. I have only one night down on messing with it and other things, so I'll look into it. It should.

Just to add a note; we're fixing a few other issues (not big deals but behind the scenes stuff) before officially releasing the latest build but we'll give the version as it is to any Receptor owner that needs this version to get started.
