I know you are just a little serious..
The following statement is true.
The previous statement is false.

Then You don't know! :)

The main addition to VST SDK for v2 was the VSTi spec but when updates to the SDK come out they are relevant for both VST and VSTi.

Samp does indeed use VSTs and it seems to accept more VSTs that anything else
I've gotten to monkey around with, plus it scans my ginormous freeware folder
I carry around with me faster than anything else I've seen and hardly ever crashed
from it.

Plus 16 pencil-tool-drawable midi animation channels per track, each has a little
drop-down menu for the effect/synth parameter and each it's own festive color and
you can individually turn off the animation curve's info without erasing the curve
itself and make whichever one you want visible or invisible so you can actually
tell what you're doing. Every time I've gotten to use it I've wished I could afford
it!

I don't know what the sample editor is but it is a wave editor and has all the nice
time/pitch abilities that you'd expect and per-object effects and looping and such.

I don't think I've gotten a go at version 8 yet but I do recall that trying to
sequence in it is a quixotic endeavor but then again I couldn't make Sonar work at
all when left unattended with it.

I remember that in the past some of the cover disk freebies in Keys also appeared in MTM (MicroTera, Tassman4Free if I'm not wrong); maybe it happens the same this time :) .
Eventually something intelligent will appear written here. Watch this space.

Another serious consideration is language, although I'm of German descent Iv'e lived in the U.S. all my life and can't speak or read German. I'd hate to order a Magazine I can't read just to get an app who's functions I might stumble a bit with due to language. Hopefully it'll be Multi.

Can you order directly from their website? But I suppose postage would be extremely high.

Does anyone know if Samplitude creates temporary and program files out the wazoo like the Magix products?

Post

What do we have here?

It looks like Magix have finally found the lower end of the market a bit too competitive. Even with Magix MusicMaker and Magix MusicStudio on offer. The Samplitude SE version is almost identical to MusicMaker. That too has VSTi support and midi editing.

49 Euros is very low indeed. It looks like Magix are responding to Cakewalks Music Creator pricing. How low can you go?:hihi:

I don't see any support for recording at 24 bit though. Magix seem to have thrown just about everything else in apart from some of the Samplitude 8 plugs like AM Track and AM pulse...ECOX e.t.c, and a few other Samp 8 exclusives (highly unlikely they would make it in at that price of course).

I think Magix were not really selling too many of the other lower end Magix products (Maker and Studio). Maybe the Emagic deal has run out as well.

No 24 bit recording by the looks of it. Maybe not an issue for most, but that would be the best feature to add for me. Maybe asking a bit much at that price point though... :hihi: Although I think Music Creator allows for 24 bit recording...not sure.

I'm a bit confused about this one:
- VSTi support incl. 8 separate outputs
What does "outputs" in this context mean?

Post

it means if you have a multi-output soundcard, you have up to 8 outputs available.

Post

Hmn, I thought it meant VSTi's with seperate outputs. (i.e., Kontakt player has 8 stereo outputs)
