Gotcha, and concur mostly. Though I have gotten some pretty warm sounds out of Oatmeal. I don't know jackshit about synthesis beyond the very basics (oscilators, filters, adsrs, arps, etc) so I really just go by what I hear and experience with the UI's. That said, yes skinning is very cool and lets you really do whatever you want with it. That's huge considering some people may find the original UI of synth1 not as good as they'd like it to be. It's too bad synth1 wasn't skinnable, we can dream thoughaudiojunkie wrote:I think it's a personality thing actually. In other words, it's the little things that do it for me. They are both really great, and I like the sound of both (though they are different).
Personally,
* I like the distortion effect of Oatmeal more.
* I also like the randomize button.
* I like the effects better (overall) in Oatmeal.
* I like the skinning (More opportunity for me to choos the skin I WANT to work with.)
* I like the capability that Oatmeal has for making fairly realistic sounding organ patches (versatility).
Like I said, it's the little things... and it doesn't mean that I'm putting down Synth 1 in ANY WAY. I like and use them both a lot.
Synth 1 has a warmer sound to my ears, and Oatmeal has a colder, more crisp sound to my ears. I can't say that I would really use one MORE than the other, because I see them as having their own particular uses, however, I just like the feel of Oatmeal better.
I hope that I have been able to explain my personal preferences to some degree.

yep- that's the way it works for me, too...Spiggy wrote:System20...I think you can only load the .omb thru the Oatmeal interface and .fxb & .fxp thru your host
Thanks for these updates!ezeeboogie wrote:Latest updates to my skins are now in this seperate thread: http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=130554
There are updated versions of both the "Nord" skin and the black skin. Enjoy!
of course i'm being picky, but i hate to see words used with their exact opposite meaning! i trust by 'aliasing' you mean 'anti-aliasing'...ezeeboogie wrote:Either you're overexagerating with your "all of the skins are very blurry" comment or you need a new monitor!
The text on my GUIs is uses photoshops standard aliasing algorythyms which aren't the greatest and can appear *slightly* blurry depending on a number of factors like what screen res/monitor size you are using and what type of monitor. Does the standard Oatmeal skin look blurry on your monitor? The standard skin has almost no aliasing so it should appear pin sharp unless it really is a problem at your end.
