I am trying to move as many programs as I can to Receptor from my laptop to lighten my load in live performance.
I am playing Midifiles from my laptop using "Synthfont", which I see works in Receptor. As it is now, I can load any Midi sequence and it plays automatically without setting up channels etc.
The question is, if I load Synthfont, which is a simple Midiplayer capable of loading any GM wavetable, into the "Unsupported Plugin" folder, should it work the same way as my laptop ?
I downloaded a copy to my PC, and it is an a .ex file. I thought I read in the manual that you can't exicute a setup a file within Receptor.
Your thoughts would be appreciated.

The VSTi version of SynthFont can be downloaded from http://www.saunalahti.fi/kru99/About_SynthFont.htm (VSTSynthFont (V1.003)) - it is just a DLL so you can copy it straight to Receptor's Unsupported folder and install it.
However, VSTSynthFont is a bit different from the main SynthFont application, it can load a GM SF2 BUT it doesn't have the built in MIDIfile player. So, unfortunately I don't think it will do what you want it to do.

You may want to check Phrazor from Sonicbytes. It's still work in progress but shoudl provide a very neat way of doing what you want to do. Plus, a user has reported that it works in Receptor.

I see it's going out for testing before final release. I will have to wait and see, as I am not all that proficient with software.
