I believe all rights to Muzys are now owned by some unnamed company who presumably paid the original developer for them. They've chosen not to release any further licences.

I'd describe it as Homicide-ware rather than Abandon-ware. Some asshole company killed off one of the most promising apps going and made it impossible for any further development on it - selfish c**ts - they should have let the original dev have it back if they weren't prepared to actually do anything with it. If I was the dev I'd name and shame them actually - and then carry on developing it regardless - they don't deserve to have it.

And then get sued, and totally not be able to do anything anymore??

I'm one of the unlucky ones that bought Muzys3 in good faith a few weeks after the OSX version was announced, which was just a few weeks before the developer dropped it ('abandoned' it) completely.
Some not so few dollars thrown in the dustbin...

I bought it here on the forum after it was gone - and not regretted it though mainly due to Muzynth as I find some of the conventions and folder behaviour etc hard to work with.

Of course, from the creative point of view, i was (like many others) very disappointed with how things evolved.

Anyway, now there is LUNA

And LUNA is reincarnating a lot of the ideas of Muzys.

And i think that we're already nice on the way to make LUNA a Muzys equivalent.

Some things are still "missing", but other things are already better!

will luna eventually adopt a similar approach to samples, ie; a built in multisampler, and simple wave editor, all seamlessly part of the program, like in Muzys?
And will there be a 'playroom' type of thing?

i just love the way muzys can load samples into keyranges and behave like a sampler; audio tracks are nice, but the player in muzys and Cmuzys is just unbeatable. Muzys 3 was one of the best of all time. And i can't even fathom for a moment what the f**k those retards that killed it were thinking, other than just being stupid, greedy fuckheads because they can. Perhaps it was a set-up from the beginning... some big DAW company saw the incredible potential of Muzys, and so they set up a subsidiary company and went to work wooing Jo into what sounded like a great deal - all the time they had no intention of going through with it. It was just a scheme to kill the competition..... yeah, that must be it

Yes, that's definitely the intention!

Though it might be in another form. Like playable locators in the composer. It still has to be R&D'd.

Wow! You are one fair dude. I remember buying CM magazine and seeing Muzys for the 1st time - AND LOVING IT. This was before buying Sonar 5 PE - and I still need a lower cpu version for my laptop.

I looked high and low to buy Muzys and kept getting dead end after dead end!

What I do not still understand is that if you buy CM magazine right now on the news stand, they still give you Muzys on the DVD! If the program has copyrights infringements or troubles, shouldn't they yank it for liability reasons?

Will Luna be as good as Muzys? Is it as good now? I would love to get a DAW/Sequencer for my laptop.

I bet LUNA will surpase Muzys in time. I'm sure Jo's learned a lot about conding a sequencer in Muzys and is using all of this knowledge while building LUNA.

Though it's not up to me to answer this question, there doesn't seem to be a problem there.

Yes, i'm confident it will

Is it as good now?

They are different: LUNA can stream audio from disk, Muzys couldn't. LUNA works on OSX, Muzys didn't. Muzys had more advanced midi functions, live performance features, and had a built-in synth/sampler, LUNA doesn't have these (yet).

Muzys started as an advanced midi-sequencer, on which an audio system was added.

LUNA starts as a basic modern audio-midi studio, which will be expanded step by step.

Again, they are different stories. But with similar concepts.
