It doesn't have to be the exact same instruments. But just some general picture for me to have some idea.
I've found some sites like http://musicmall-asia.com/malaysia/inst ... index.html and http://gsh.taiwanschoolnet.org/gsh2005/ ... hing2.html and http://www.chinesemusic.co.uk/english/I ... tsPage.htm
Mostly they give a pic and a short describtion where the instrument is used for; lead in shadowplay for instance.

I'm not affiliated with Kong Audio, but to anyone who's considering purchasing ChineeKong: buy it while the discount is still there! You can't find Chinese samplesets this good anywhere else.

Well, I do know that I downloaded one of your early VSTi at least a year ago.sosayweall wrote:Not exactly...Gregjazz wrote: Is that the MiniErhu VSTi you're talking about? I have that.

what is the best way to install the databanks and link them to the VST plugin? I'm a bit confused with the install process for Kong v2

Personally I have the samples on another drive than the VST / dll-file. I just made a shortcut to the samples, this shortcut is located in the folder called 'ChineeKongV2'

Ahha, I just found the information about loading the samples.
1. Features and Controls
After loading up ChineeKong in your host, the sample loader display is empty by default. You can load a total of 10 sound sets into one instance of ChineeKong as shown in the screenshot on the righthand. MIDI channel 1-5 are on the left half, and MIDI channel 6-10 are on the right half.
Click on the 'File', then locate the 'ChineeKong DATA' folder you have installed on your hard drive and choose the sound set of your chose to load it.
You may remove the loaded sound set from the menu by right-clicking on the 'file' and choose 'uninstall this file'.

Hi spuddle.
Unlike our other plugins, you have to manually choose the subsets to load into ChineeKong.
The soundbank can be put to anywhere you want. But since the default browsing window is set to chineekongV2\chineekongV2, you might want to make a shortcut pointing to the folder where you have the subsets installed for easier access.

... and do it again next time you reformat your machine, and again until maybe one day KongAudio aren't there to authorize it anymore. And to think - pirates aren't affected by this issue!envoy wrote:One last question, again not mentioned anywhere on the web page: you mention a challenge/response system, but can this be accomplished without having the computer connected to the net? I keep my DAW completely off-line, and if it is just a matter of getting a code back for a particular installation, I can do that with my office computer.

No -- it doesn't mean that at all.XDVarenkor wrote: ... and do it again next time you reformat your machine, and again until maybe one day KongAudio aren't there to authorize it anymore. And to think - pirates aren't affected by this issue!
First, Kong Audio will be around for a very long time.
Second, put yourself in a developers shoes for just 30 seconds and try to empathise with what it feels like to see several thousand hours of sweat and tears end up offered for free to every mad bastard download-freak on the planet.
Third, the business model (well proven) is that you protect the hell out of your *new* products until such time as investment is recouped and *then maybe* you go for bundled, self-registering units (if it's financially viable).
Fourth, if your mind is too foggy/weak/inebriated to keep your DAW in good enough shape then you're the loser and you shouldn't be using sophisticated, high-Q virtual instruments on it.
Fifth, if you wanna pick on developers and their methods of copy protection, why don't you go pick on the rich guys like NI, Image-Line, Steinberg, et all with their REALLY funky CP schemes and let the small fry breathe a little. You know why you don't? Because only devs similar in size and kind to KA will take the time to personally respond to you.
Sixth, Myth busting: There is no universal developer endorsement of 'we must live with the necessary evil of piracy' or 'it's OK to "try before you buy" our fully functional product and pay us for it when you bloody well please'. It's piracy and it's illegal and it hurts -- pure and simple.
Inconvenient? Sure it is -- and WE ALL pay the price -- user and dev, because the pirates are far better supported than most devs ever will be. It's a fight to stay alive.
Cheers,
Alex

I believe as long as you save the codes you got back, you'll be fine. I've reformatted my computer before, but the machine code doesn't change, of course, so the same response codes will work.XDVarenkor wrote:... and do it again next time you reformat your machine, and again until maybe one day KongAudio aren't there to authorize it anymore. However, if you get a new computer, that'd be a different story.

Xander, am I correct that you are associated with KongAudio ? I have now read several of your posts that were highly inappropriate. You become very rude and even insulting as soon as somebody critizices anything about KongAudio. May I suggest you calm down a little ? Nobody minds you defending KongAudio, but do it in a polite way. You could have mentioned that KongAudio has promised to hand out protection free software if they have to quit business, that it is possible to authorise your software from any computer via email (not just your DAW) and that KongAudio is usually very fast in authorising the product.Fourth, if your mind is too foggy/weak/inebriated to keep your DAW in good enough shape then you're the loser and you shouldn't be using sophisticated, high-Q virtual instruments on it.
Let me just say, I am actually reluctant to buy future products from a company that is connected to someone who displays such an impolite attitude as you do in the official forum.
