about sound quality if true, it would be reallly stupid, unless they screwed something in the Waveshell code. But DX or VST is just an application library / transport interface, it has virtually nothing to do with sound quality.Waves plugs, just to name one company, have always worked better in DX form. Until ver.5, they also sounded better
About the support them or not... my opinion : they served well in the past, now let'em die and RIP with honour.

wtf does this have to do with MUSIC SOFTWARE....all you f**king Euros love to bash an American for being born here...we dont go around bashing you for imperialism, rubber massacres in africa (read the book, "King Leopolds Ghosts") , and the atrocities that YOUR leadership/countries have caused ........one of the worst parts of kvr is the double-standard stereotyping and profiling.....
stand up and do the right thing...pfft, stand up and "lead by example", asshole
on topic, It will be interesting if steinberg implements an "option". that should help, but steinberg has imho progressively gotten worse since sx2 time

That solves the problem of using DX plugs, but not opening older projects that use them because they will have new paths. Another problem might be advanced features like automation etc.grymmjack wrote:dont forget you can use a wrapper

clearly not a cubase user - you cant automate dx plugs in cubaseAlan wrote:That solves the problem of using DX plugs, but not opening older projects that use them because they will have new paths. in order to have the old projects you must have the old sequencer - so you can obviously open them easily enough - and if there really is a reasoj to open it in the newer one, open it in the old sequencer replace the dx plugs with the vst wrapper - re save - job done
takes less time than whining on a forum about nothing much in particular
no current dx plugs will work in a 64 bit app on a 64 bit os - it's dead OK
I believe every thread should devolve into character attacks and witch-burning. It really helps the discussion.

I forgot about that(former Nuendo user until 2.0).ericj23 wrote:clearly not a cubase user - you cant automate dx plugs in cubase
That's a workaround for some, but not some who have large running projects.in order to have the old projects you must have the old sequencer - so you can obviously open them easily enough - and if there really is a reasoj to open it in the newer one, open it in the old sequencer replace the dx plugs with the vst wrapper - re save - job done

Thanks to all who have posted replies regarding Hosts with/without DX support ……….so we have Steinberg and Ableton who do not support it so far.

Huh?
Ableton never supported it in the first place - they certainly didn't "ditch" it in the way that Steinberg have! For that matter, Tracktion, eXT, and several others do not and have not supported DX.
