I am using some of the artfills and I wonder why they are mapped like they are. For example when using artfill 7 it plays a major second (A-B, A is what you can call ghost note). But not from the played tone but instead from a minor fifth above? Why?
In order to play A-B I have to play an F (B being a minor fifth from F). Confusing.

Well an update would be nice...or at least some info about these patches. I mean they are interesting but very cumbersome to use.sosayweall wrote:Hi Bosse,
It's because the articulation patches were not exactly a well-planned thing, so a few of them indeed have to be filled in with odd entries in the end.

I've just talked to Shan about this in depth, and I have to withdraw my previous reply. Sorry for the confusion.
As you can see, Shan actually employs this mappings on more than one artfill patches consistently, so this is actually an intentional decision - it's a way to enhance the variations of expression within the minimal range. Granted that it may not be suitable for live performace, but it's appropriate for MIDI composition.
Be sure to load up essential.fxb and have a go at that too.

I did not even know there was an essential.fbx!
I am sorry but still do not understand this "intentional decision" and how it relates to "expression". Please explain, examples are very welcome. I do not use Winds for live performance so that is not an issue.
One more question: What parameter should I look for in a midi editor if I want to change from the "B-sound" to the "A-sound" AFTER playing? Or do I have to rerecord?

We are confused. Shan believes you are asking about keyswitching , whilst I believe you are asking about the pitch of the notes...
Or a mixture of both?
Could you elaborate your question again, please?

Hi missword, it's an alternative patch bank for ChineeWinds. You can load it up using your host's native bank-loading function. (the fxb is located in the same directory as the dll file)
