Oh, that was fast, I am grabbing the update now.
Hooray for getting rid of the dongle, and I really don't care what IK's reasoning is. I am just happy to get my usb port back, for things that actually do sth. for me :)
Anybody in need of a synchrosoft dongle? :D

Post

Improved CPU usage!
I will have to check this one out ASAP!
I am sure just removing the dongle will help computer resources.

HAPPY

with your luck you'll get stuck in a ten hour traffic jam :hihi:

 Yes, the CPU usage improvement is nice. I don't know how much it had to do with the dongle specifically but either way... the reasons are not nearly as important as the results. The results are pretty good I think! Free update for Universal Binary users (sorry but there was a chance that was going to cost... some companies charge for that kind of update), free stand alone and there's even an extra piece of software included which is the SpeedTrainer. It does real-time stretching of mp3's, waves, aiffs (even some other formats I noticed). It's cool because it is drag and drop, loops automatically... a lot of fun! Try it out!

Have you contacted IK tech support for help? They can try to troubleshoot to see what the problem is. Obviously each person's system is different so who knows?

Edit: Actually this might help! Check out this: http://community.installshield.com/show ... p?t=139684

Basically if you remove the folder that is mentioned in this thread it should help. It seems to be a problem with Instalsheild, not the installer. But anyway, the important thing is... does this solve your problem! (I am in no way tech support or qualified but someone just told me this so maybe it will help you since it is the weekend...).

I'll put in a support request with IK but just as a heads up AT 2.1 is working fine as a stand alone and in Live 6 but is crashing Sonar 6 with runtime errors. As always it could be something in my personal set-up but as I said it is working fine in other hosts.

I've rolled back to 2.0 till this gets figured out.

Yes, I have a ticket, but I thought it might be quicker here and it was. The install problem was solved by renaming several subfolders within the Install Shield folder as the thread you mentioned suggests. Thanks for the info!

But, it would not register in the beta of FLS, so I had to do that within FLS 5.

btw, I have a copy of the "Bass Collection" and it has some problematic samples, particularly with attack times being off. Is there an update for that? I seem to recall it was a known issue.

Shane.... FL has some problems with AT2 anyway... (at least on my comp and the IL support guys said there's not much they can do since it'd need a audio engine rewrite.... haven't tested with the latest beta though)

what happens is that AT has a bigger latency when the I/O latency increases very strange... but when you're working with low I/O latencies ALL the time it's not noticeable

Mini-Review:

I just played with the demo, and I'm highly impressed (and I'm a picky bastard when it comes to guitar sounds). It does the Marshall, Fender, and Vox sounds extremely well. Through on cab, preamp, and tube matching and within a few seconds you can get a good straight amp tone. I love all the mic options, as well as the dual amps/cabs, and the effects are generally good. As far as straight sound goes, AT2 kicks the crap out of GR2 and I probably spent more time with that demo than I did with AT2. It sounds different, but just as good my Guitarport (which is almost maxed out on the expansion packs)and since I was actually hoping for a significant difference I'm very pleased. I think the Line 6's models generally sound very processed and polite. While that may work most of the time, it sucks for when you want a nasty kind of raw Marshall or distorted Fender tone. AT2 excells at this.

Now here's some constructive criticism. The presets I went through kind of sucked, but I never use them to begin with, so no biggie. I didn't care for any of the really high gain sounds I tried getting as I thought they sounded a bit too compressed and muddy, but in all honesty I was playing a Telecaster Deluxe and don't play with really high gains anyway, so this may have just been my inability to quickly tweak to a good high gain sound and using the wrong guitar (I'll bust out my Les Paul later). I also would like more effects. The number of distortions is about right, but I really want more modulation options, and a butload more delay's (including the crappy old Boss DD-1). The distortion that looks like a Pro-Co Rat doesn't at all sound like one, but for all I know, it could have been modelled on a DS-1, and doesn't sound bad on its own right anyway. The pitch tracking on the harmonizer also seemed a little weak as far as I'm concerned. And where's our Digitec Whammy pedal? Should I also mention I'd like some more wah choices?

As far as I'm concerned, those complaints are miniscule compared to how good the raw amp sounds. I'm really looking forward to my Total Studio Bundle showing up in the mail next week. And thanks IK for a non-restrictive demo and getting rid of the dongle (props to Squids there too). I take back every negative thing I may have ever said or thought about IKMM. AT2 is a real quality product.

I've been using 2.1 for a couple of hours now. Suddenly it won't load any audio files. I can open the "Open file" dialog and select the file. It appears to load but there is no visible waveform and no sound.

Are you kiddin me?!!!

The demo is available now?!!

Wahoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!

I will download in a few seconds...Can't wait to test this puppy

Just jumped back into this thread (was wondering what was fueling it again...). Wow, no dongle... sweet!

Does the demo install any pace/ilok type of stuff? Sorry if I'm being ignorant here. Just being cautious, as I believe other companies demos install stuff like that for demos (or am I mistaken?)...

Post

No, PACE or anything. Just pops up a challange and response screen upon each load, but I do believe that's just IK's proprietary system.
