...and I happen to have a business degree from Harvard. (no not really but wouldn't that be so perfect of a response?beergeek wrote:Well, Squids probably won't say anything but I will.
First, Squids is Dave Kerzner: check this link http://www.sonicreality.com/company.php
So, he doesn't work FOR IK he works WITH IK. He also works with NI and Propellerheads and a number of others.
He is also a principal in http://esoundz.com.
So you might want to re-think the "what do you know about business" remarks.
You're right, I am not going to answer ALL of that, especially defending attacks against me. I simply have my opinion and never did I say I was the ultimate business expert or anything like that so... I am learning to just leave that stuff alone! None of this should be personal.
But, let me clarify what I meant by missing the deadline. Hey, believe me I am the LAST person to enjoy the harsh reality of missing out on a promotion. I have a knack for waiting to the last minute to send in my rebates and all kinds of stuff I miss out on because it isn't my top priority, I'm busy or whatever. I don't like it but I accept it. That said, I usually ask and sometimes beg to get it if I am at least close to the deadline. Sometimes I get it sometimes I don't (talking about me as a consumer). Talking about ME as a small company owner myself, my philosophy is to make the customer happy and bend the rules a bit! When that's realistic to do I am all for it. Most people that know me know that I wouldn't turn down someone who was close to the deadline on something on esoundz or from SR (guys, have I ever?). But, IK is a much bigger company than SR or esoundz and a lot of things like registrations auto-qualifying for limited time free downloadable upgrades are managed on a higher level dealing with thousands more people. So those cut-off dates aren't as easy to play around with as other offers where a human can say "oh alright here". Therefore it falls back on the whole "snooze you lose" reality. I don't want you to think that this is MY philosphy. Far from it! But, it is just a reality of promotions from any company really. There are time frames for offers and one has to try to take advantage of it within that time frame as best they can! I almost regret being the one to bring that up if it makes me look like the evil bastard who invented that concept! I'm not! I too wish it weren't that way as a consumer myself. But it is with most large companies and for understandable reasons. It was pretty generous and even rare to have offered it as a free upgrade at all too though let's not forget. But, bittersweet for anyone who missed the window of opportunity for sure. That's understandbale too.
But, anyway, there's no point in going back and forth on this. Hopefully there's no animosity. Nothing to defend. You're right! You have your opinion, I have mine and that is life! Best of luck to you and your music making!
