Problem registering EWQLSO Gold

I'm having a problem registering EQQLSO Gold on my receptor. I've been attempting to follow the instructions here:

http://plugorama.com/customer/ni_auth.htm

and here:

http://plugorama.com/customer/product.p ... t=0&page=1

with no luck. If I try the DIRECT ONLINE REGISTRATION method, I get a "Cannot Open Browser" dialog box, when I click the REGISTER NOW button. If I try the SEND REGISTRATION FROM ANOTHER COMPUTER method, the file never gets saved in my MyComputer folder, even though it claims it did. Has anyone else had this problem? This is through the Receptor Remote Control from a Powerbook running OS X 10.3.9. I've got Receptor System version 1.5.20060504.

Thanks,
Eric

Hi!

Having the same exact same problems with EWQLSO Silver, and no solution.. Did you get any help for your situation?

Yes, I've had the same problem. I THINK the fix was to use Samba to mount the Reeceptor, not Appletalk.
I had trouble with this as well, mounting via Samba didn't seem to work, but I think you just need to wait a
long time for the mount to show up. Once mounted via Samba, the missing file appears...

To mount using samba, you just prepend "smb://" before the ip address of your receptor in the
"Connect To Server" dialog from OS X.

Should I turn off the Appletalk from the both computer and Receptor?

Samba doesn't seem to find the Muse..

marypopn, can you be a little more specific? The fix is as tomandany says. Open up a finder window. Hit apple-k, and then type smb:// and append the IP address of your receptor. Does that make sense?

To be more specific, you don't need to turn AppleTalk off (or on).

To be more specific.. My problem is exactly the same as "ericgoezt" had on the first post on this thread. And in the moment I can't get samba finding my Muse.

I've tried with TCP/IP is on manual mode and DHCP mode, appletalk on/off, different ip-adresses.. No luck for connecting Receptor with samba.

If you are using Samba you must turn "Windows Networking" ON on the Receptor. Have you done that?

Yes, I've done that.

Maria,

I've noticed that the networking on the Muse is sometimes flaky, especially if it's plugged into the network after it's powered up. Try this:

1. Enable Windows Networking and DHCP mode on the Receptor.
2. Turn off the receptor and your computer.
3. Plug them both into the network. If you're hooking them directly to each other without going through a router or switch, then make sure to use a crossover cable.
4. Turn on the computer and wait for it to boot up. If you're using a crossover cable, make sure to configure the computer to serve the IP address (alternatively, you can have the receptor serve the IP by setting it to "crossover mode" in step 1).
5. Now turn on the receptor.
6. Wait 5 minutes. For some reason, I've found all the networking services on the receptor don't seem to work right at start up.
7. Now, figure out what IP address the receptor has (Setup -> TCP/IP Address from the front panel).
8. See if your computer has connectivity to the receptor by pinging it. For macs, open Applications/Utilities/Terminal. For PC's Start->Run and then type command. Now, for either platform type:
ping IP_address
Where IP_address is the IP address of the Receptor. Hit Apple-c or Cntrl-c.
9. If the receptor responded to the ping, then go on to the next step. If it didn't, then something is wrong. Try something different.
10. Now open a smb connection to the receptor. For PC's type \\IP_address\ right into the Windows Explorer (I could be wrong about this). For Mac's, open a Finder window, hit Apple-k, then type smb://IP_address.
11. I think it asks you for a password at this point. You can leave that blank.
12. With some luck, you should be connected to the Receptor. Now proceed with the EWQLSO Gold registration.

Good luck!
Eric
