headquest wrote: As for speculation that Reason is to be abandoned, that was started in a ?"humerous" editorial by Ronan MacDonald in CM magazine. Having recently invested so much in the Reason Pianos refill, not to mention helping Sonic Implants convert the entire Miroslav Vitous orchestral sample set into refill format last summer, I find this suggestion highly unlikely. Reason is the biggest selling music software of this decade (by a considerable margin) and one of the most distinctive... why ever would they abandon it in order to produce a "Me, too!" sequencer?
Implants? You mean Sonic Reality. ;) Actually, we did the conversion and programming of it all on our own but we work closely with Propellerheads so that our refills meet their highest standards and we try to stay consistent with certain design guidelines. Anyway, no Reason is not being abandoned. In fact, let's put that rumour to rest for good. It's absolutely and definitely not going to be abandoned at least not for any time foreseable in the near future. Reason is, as you say, "hot" and for us our Reason refills do very well, especially in the stores or on www.esoundz.com (oh and since you brought up Miroslav Refills we just lowered the price by half, just to know).

As for rumours... I know some of them! There's more than what you guys are mentioning. Sonic Reality has something pretty big this year that might surprise you. We also have something to announce relating to Tracktion that is cool as well. IK has something extremely cool that I've been asked to speak at a press conference on (I do that sometimes). I can't let that cat out of the bag of course but it is something I know a lot of people will be excited about (maybe start another 300 page thread on - ha).

There are some other things I've heard about as well but I am under NDA so I can't disclose. I CAN tell you that it looks like it will be an interesting NAMM though. Hopefully some of you will get to go there. I am going to video some of it and put it up on youtube though in case you can't. Let me know if there's anything in particular you want to see.

Oh, in the Sonic Reality booth which is three times larger than last year (to give you an idea of the scope of what we have going on) we will also have a REALLY unusual instrument that is totally new. I don't think it's ever been seen before actually, so an invention that controls midi in a unique way. We didn't invent it, this is something from another company that is sharing a piece of our booth just because it's cool (not it's not the Continuum although I was considering bringing mine just for the fun of it). The SR booth is right next to the Yamaha/Steinberg booth, PreSonus and Korg. It's going to be a fun show. I hope I get to see some of you KVRians there.

Music with dinner is an insult both to the cook and the violinist.

Of course, oops, sorry. I'll amend the original.

Thanks for that, and especially also thanks for confirming that the "Reason is Dead" rumours are untrue 8) :D

... and for all the other information.

By the way, I think that Mackie have already [informally] announced the new loop/sample content for T3. It sounds like a great development for Tracktion in the new version 8)

I look forward to hearing all the other news as it breaks!
Good luck for NAMM Squids. :)

I have a distinct feeling that apple will announce LOGIC 8, updates for FinalCut etc. and the new iPhones ...

also, i'm sure that SPECTRASONICS will announce and showcase some new product or at least a major update for their existing instruments (A + T).

:tu: being able to make one's own loops in a plastic manner will be interesting...i guess that has been possible for lots of you, but it will be new to me :D

also, i just purchased an almost new FANTOM and some soundcards from a ROLAND-employee, which indicates strongly (from my POV) that ROLAND will announce a new flagship-workstation to replace the existing FANTOM line. He didn't mention anything regarding this subject, but there must be a reason why he was letting this baby go.

Oooh, exciting, unique instruments are my thing! Please make sure there is plenty of coverage of this! Also if Dr. Haken will be at the show with his fingerboards, please, please I beg you, interviews, movies, sound clips.. anything!

My dream is Continuums!

Thanks Dave :)

I've heard That BONES is going to release a synth designed for dreamy pads and that he is going to charge a small fortune for it!

Oh have they? Hmmm. I like to be safe on those things just in case. But, yeah, we have that and plus a lot more that will work with Tracktion nicely.

The funny thing about them Implants is that they even changed their named to Sonivox and yet their old name often gets mistaken with our stuff. I guess those are the perils of having "Sonic" in your name. It was funny because I read a blurb about the M-Audio ProKeys Grand Piano (the hardware controller/piano) in Keyboard mag and it said the piano was done by SpectraSONICS! Nnnnnope. Sonic Reality again. Oh well. Maybe sometimes it works the other way around. "I really love that Atmosphere by Sonic Reality". haha. ;)

Anyway, I look foward to seeing the new stuff as much as anyone else. I've seen a few things that I know people will be psyched on from other companies already. But, on the other hand, not all products have to be announced at NAMM. At SR we're actually holding back anything that won't be released within the first half of the year. It was tough too because we have some really cool new things we'd LIKE to announce. But, we're picking just the ones that are actually going to ship within a reasonable amount of time. A new philosophy! ;)

I've done a couple of searches and nuthin shows.
Watch this:

http://www.sonicstate.com/news/shownews.cfm?newsid=2614
A slip of the mouse presented us with the screen of some kind of new instrument which was swiftly removed from view.

'an utterly accidental slip of the mouse!', Dave hastens to add. :hihi:

Ha. I don't believe that was an accidental slip of the mouse. But... pretty cool huh? That SOB! Awesome. I love the o'l Oberheims. I wish someone would do the SEM though. That's the best sounding one IMO. I actually have an 8 voice still in a rack with midi. Love that thing.

:hihi: :help: :P
Gotta have that one. Could come in handy when i record synths for german speedmetal bands;-)
And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make.
