I suggest you create archives of all your T2 projects and then try importing them all into T3 when the time comes. If they all work ok you can safely unistall T2. If not you will have to play it by ear: minor problems might be easily fixable, and then you can save T3 versions of the edits and safely unistall T2. Any major problems, post them here...Mr. Tingle wrote:
Ben, if T2 can't be guarenteed to open in T3 that means I can never uninstall T2 on my machine incase I need to edit a T2 song.
Just Back from NAMM and more Tracktion info for you.

Yes, it will probably work out fine over time.IIRs wrote:I suggest you create archives of all your T2 projects and then try importing them all into T3 when the time comes. What exactly is Drumcore "TK" in the Ultimate bundle? A stripped-down version or the full version but locked to Tracktion? Will it accept the add-on packs such as the Sly Dunbar pack?

Beno,
Thanks for all the inside info!
Sorry if this has been already confirmed elsewhere but has the acuma preset bug that affected Final Mix and the other Mackie Mixing tools been fixed?
Does the new channel strip (looks great by the way) have the acuma preset bug?
Thanks.

What bug would that be? Just curious.

IIRC the mackie plugins "forget" the path to the factory presets and show none. It has been reported that it already has been fixed in T2.x, but now and then it happens to me again.flamin-gitaur wrote:What bug would that be? Just curious.

This thread in the MUTOOLS forum mentions some video plugins that you could investigate.pw wrote:You're right, I guess it would have been documented. I am talking about a thumbnail track, I thought it a logical step from the current implementation, but I guess it is only logical to me...

Correct. That is the problem.IIRC the mackie plugins "forget" the path to the factory presets and show none.
It is still a problem here. I just tried it.It has been reported that it already has been fixed in T2.x, but now and then it happens to me again.![]()

I am just hoping that it is fixed in T3
There is no mention of the fix in the last T2 patch notes...
http://www.kvraudio.com/news/4837.html (v2.1.0.11)
http://www.kvraudio.com/news/4665.html (v2.1.0.6)
The plugins appear to remember changes (actually I think they definitely do) but it's the preset name that is not updated, which can be confusing.
I just hope the problem is not still present in the Mackie plugs in T3 including the new channel strip. I would not be that bothered about it if the Mackie plugs were not so useful. They are very good quality plugs.

The whole backwards compatibility thing is just me covering our buts. As I said, everything should open fine, but we can't possibly test every single edit.
The Mackie plug-in thing should have been fixed in one of the 2.x installs. But Mac users had special instructions included in the read me to make sure the new plug-ins were installed. Could this be your issue you are still seeing?
And yes, all versions of T3 get all the Mackie plugs, including the reverb, new channel strip, etc.
Nope, no new Quicktime stuff other then a few minor tweaks. The movies apear in your items list on the project page now making it easier to add/remove movies from a project/edit.

This was my assumption as well. But I assure you it is still a problem.Beno wrote: The Mackie plug-in thing should have been fixed in one of the 2.x installs.
1. Select a Mackie plug.
2. Change the preset from the default preset.
3. Save your project.
4. Close Tracktion
5. Open Tracktion and reload the project with the Mackie plug
6. The preset name is back to the default / not the same as when the project was saved.
I am on the PC not using a MAC hereBut Mac users had special instructions included in the read me to make sure the new plug-ins were installed. Could this be your issue you are still seeing?

That is not a bug. That is how it works. That is not changed.
What should have been fixed for T2.1 is that some users were seeing the plug-in not show the factory presets in the drop down list.

Besides that: great news! Looking really forward to T3!!

FYI, the system requirements for the bundles have been added to the pop up list of bundle contents. Reminder, this is the requirements for the bundle, not for Tracktion 3, which of course can run on a lot leaner system, as well as OSX.3.9 and Win 2000/VISTA.

Yes. Its designed to prevent newbies from relying on presets for their compressor and EQ settings..thoshu wrote: So this is a feature then, not a bug?!![]()
