being able to select various samples in the browser ([ctrl] + mouse), and automatically loading each one in a slot with only one drag/drop mouse move.
=> instant drumkit creation
i didnt think about that for multi-fx ...sounds like a better idea at any rate.sinkmusic wrote:Well, bit reduction is something I'd like to see included in da Ext multi efx.AllenPOPO wrote:here's my FR: bit reduction. i would like to make presets of drum samplers where all pads are 16 bit, 12 bit 8 bit etc.... for layering experimenting purposes. anyone else want that?
Not the biggest priority, as inserting a free bitred plugin seems a nice workaround for me, but it is always a FR to take

Stuttered playing of samples is hard otherwise, where if you have a sample that sounds like "boom-laka-laka," it is difficult to sequence something like "boom-laka-laka boom-boom-laka-laka."

Background
With the original EXT1 I didn't see the point of the sampler until it turned in to a nice slicer with drag/drop midi etc.
With the current EXT2 I don't see the point of the synth/sampler component (except possibly that Linux users with fewer plugins available will actually have something to start with that makes a sound. And also the self contained project that can be moved to/from Linux using only built-in components, but how often will that happen with real world projects?)
The XT2 Drum Track on the other hand is different and much more useful, because of its integratedness. The wav sample name appears right there in the track, very useful, (I haven't seen that level of integration with third party VSTi drum samplers/drum synths and VST hosts.)
I like the way the vol/pan/cutoff parameters on each sample track are adjustable 'per note per sample'.
To push this feature completely over the edge I would like:
Drum Track Feature Requests
FR1) Ability to adjust pitch for each note for each sample (Coarse & Fine separately) (in the same way as the vol/pan/cutoff dropdown params)
FR2) Ability to reverse playback of each note for each sample (in the same way as the vol/pan/cutoff dropdown params)
FR3) Ability to scroll through samples (during playback) in the same folder (with arrow keys or mouse) to audition a sample for any sample slot. (I like the way sonic charge microtonic handles auditioning of individual drum sounds with the arrow keys or mouse, fxpansion dr-008 also had something vaguely similar IIRC).
Combining those FRs with sinkmusic's original request for the drag and drop from audio tracks/parts/slices in a nice integrated way would be extremely, extremely cool.
Thanks,
Chris

-Mute/solo buttons for each sound in the drumsampler gui (not in the track header though)
-Single click note + velocity edit (hold the mouse and move up/down)
+ a bunch of other stuff, but i guess those will be coming sooner or later, so i'll shut up for now

single click,

drag vertical when adding note to set velocity,

sample startpoint automaition,

send amounts (we need sends per drum ,and outs per drum),
a list of only automated parameters,
midi out (routable)

nice none cold c, it's on the list. I'm not removing the synth/sampler though

No clicks, smooth transition. You can still hear the old patch fading in the back. All the other vsts I've tried, if you try to switches between patches, you get some big clicks or some weird a** noize caused by effects being changed drastically. With the current EXT2 I don't see the point of the synth/sampler component (except possibly that Linux users with fewer plugins available will actually have something to start with that makes a sound.
I'm really diggin it and I can't wait to see some more improvements in the future.

-Make drum triggers always "snap" long. Right now they are all 1/16th and cover other notes when snap is smaller. (Don't know how this should work if sending midi)
-Velocity to parameter mapping.

Great FR ideas BTW...
you can already put samples into choke-groups - a good and easy solution would be to double (e.g.) the bass-drum to another position and put both in a choke-group - if you think about a real bass-drum that's what happens anyway - and if you want to simuluate double-bass-drum: both feet won't sound identical and that's easy to realize by a tiny bit of filter and gain differences...larm wrote:

Believe me I've tried it and it does NOT work when you want to shorten a sample here and there.jens wrote:you can already put samples into choke-groups - a good and easy solution would be to double (e.g.) the bass-drum to another position and put both in a choke-group - if you think about a real bass-drum that's what happens anyway - and if you want to simuluate double-bass-drum: both feet won't sound identical and that's easy to realize by a tiny bit of filter and gain differences...larm wrote:
