Osc sync: yes, please.
FM: yes, please, very much. But I realize this could take a lot of work and even more time. I realize FM isn't the scope of this synth.
PWM: yes, please.
Ring mod: you can already do that with an audio-rate LFO modulating osc volume or filter volume (depending whether you want AM before or after the filter). However, I tried using keytrack to modulate the LFO frequency and I failed. So I don't think it's possible to use the LFO as a "sub octave oscillator" so it tracks with the keyboard. Osc ringmod would be nicer. If you make oscillators mod sources, it would be possible to do that with the matrix (but would that sound like crap? i think the LFO ringmod method already gives a lot of aliasing)
Further requests:
Oscillators sound fine. There's a lot you can do already. The waveforms are interesting, maybe you could add some dry and noisy waveforms. Take polyiblit for example. Stuff with lots of non-harmonic high overtones would be nice. I like the phase feature, please keep that in. It's important for some tricks in drum programming.
You could expand the waveshaper a bit.
I really like the envelopes. However, there's a feature which you might consider: env tension. This would be a knob which would make the envelope go from exp curved, to linear, to log.
Filters are real nice, but both orders sound the same to my ear... One is less exact, but generally they sound very similar. You could think about adding more filter styles. The phaser in polyiblit makes an interesting filter, maybe you could salvage that easily. Maybe you could add in some different VCF styles.
People (some other plugin makers i discussed Sylenth with) are complaining the resampling algorithms in Sylenth drop harmonics slightly too fast. By ear, the oscillators sound real good. I heard BassStation does that on purpose, to get its "sound". I don't think that all is a problem, but you're saying you're trying to be exact.
GUI features: please, drop the synthedit GUI. I've had to kill 1 project because the GUI wouldn't load anymore. Furthermore, any other projects I had loaded at the same time had become "infected" and the Sylenth1 GUI wouldn't load there, either (Sonar 6). I get scrambled graphics often. Doing minute adjustments on knobs is annoying, because the knob values tend to jump around when I'm moving my mouse pixel by pixel (who doesn't know that?)
When redoing the GUI, you could think of this: when you right-click on a knob, a huge (2-3" diameter on-screen, or 150-200 px) circular knob could show up in the "LCD" of Sylenth. It could be used for very minute adjustments. A keyboard-entry field for the value could be in the middle of that huge knob.
Other features: More subparts. Instead of A, B have A, B, C, D, E, F...
I think that wouldn't be *this* hard to implement - would it?
Myself, I work at 48K and on a Pentium 3 - your synth is one of the best sounding on my config.
Where can I read that "amazona interview" where you describe how you made the synth? I know a tiny bit of DSP and I know german. I'd be glad to read the interview.
Btw, did you have time to look at the preset I've sent you?

Hi, the LFO modulation and anti-aliasing at high frequencies has been improved in the latest version, so I expect you haven't tried v1.21 yet. Keyboard tracking the LFO rate works fine now and it can be used to create ringmod and FM-like effects.cheater wrote:Ring mod: you can already do that with an audio-rate LFO modulating osc volume or filter volume (depending whether you want AM before or after the filter). I don't think that the harmonics drop too fast. It's always a trade-off between sound quality and performance. The areas where higher harmonics drop are mostly inaudible to the human ear, not only because they consist of high frequencies, but also because they are masked by the lower harmonics. More accurate reproduction of these harmonics would only cost more system resources but would still sound very much the same.cheater wrote:People (some other plugin makers i discussed Sylenth with) are complaining the resampling algorithms in Sylenth drop harmonics slightly too fast. Also, if you really want to reproduce these harmonics at extremely high precision and at frequencies far above the highest audible frequencies, simply set the samplerate to 96kHz or higher.

Yes, but actually I made the same preset some time ago alreadycheater wrote:Btw, did you have time to look at the preset I've sent you?
Thanks for your input anyway!

Hi Lennard,
Just bought your awesome Sylenth1. Really love the sound and the low CPU measures! After reading this thread, some thoughts came up my mind:
- Please don't change the interface too much! The current design really fits its analogue sound. Nothing wrong with those knobs, in my opinion.
- Several people asking for a more expanded arpeggiator, but you suggested to use an external vst midi stepsequencer for that. Well, I think you should consider doing an expanded arp. I haven't seen a fair implementation of such a midi plugin (ERA comes close), that runs on all platforms, and is as easy to use as your arpeggiator.
- Preset management? Please keep it simple & quick. Favourites are great, but a hundred categories like in Korgs M1? Not effective!
- And whatever enhancement you make: please keep it simple, great sounding and (not least) low on CPU!
Thanks again for a great synth.
Kind regards from Meppel,
Jan

Good suggestions, especially about the preset management system being intuitive and effective and usable. I'm also concerned with systems like Albino, where going through tons of menus isn't very manageable. Sytrus and Surge have a widows conventional tree system, but only Surge has a plus/minus to scroll through the presets quickly. Something like that would be good.

Not shure if this has been said: It would be great to have a Effectsection for the A AND the B Part
Or maybe just a little knob to route the effects just to the A OR the B Part.
Anyhow: Really really great synth!!!

Many VSTis have that what i call "loading bank disease". Is this a difficult restriction in VST development? I thought that we are on software side, and not back in 1995 with my Roland JV

cut and past, "c" and "p" controls for the amp and mod envelopes is essential.
Generally, a more robust envelope would do wonders for Sylenth1. I'm certainly not asking for 9-point syncable envs--maybe just one extra stage like the famous Alpha Juno envelope.
Effects parameters in the Mod Matrix! Please!
Other desirable mod destinations:
--Detune
--Individual Envelope stage levels--this is really important!
--filter drive--what the heck. Not sure how this would sound.

If you could implement FM Synthesis, this would really be the best Synth around!!
(...well ...it is allready in my opinion
but still this is missing...
and...it IS time for an update hu?

Lennard, does Sylenth1 make crackling noises on your setup when run at 96khz?
For example I play a 4 note chord (Pad MoonCloud) or any other preset (lead or bass) that makes the CPU go over 40% and the crackling starts immediately. It only does this with 96khz, I've not been yet able to make it to that with 44.1
phew.
I've tested some other CPU killers like the TimewARP2600, and it can comfortably play a whopping maximum of 2 notes at 96khz, without any crackling noises - with the CPU running between 60% to 80%.
And when is this update coming around huh?
