I've been listening to the demos on this site.
https://www.platinumsamples.com/index.php
I haven't heard any feedback on it. Has anyone checked this out?
BTW, since I created my own drummap for AD (in Logic7) I created a second drum kick and it sounds great.
{to chagzuki} I listened to you mp3 demos, too. You have a unique approach. I like your sound. I think that AD will suprise you. You can really manipulate the sound to get some really cool fx.

Yeah, I like what I'm seeing with AD. However for the time being I'm going with DFH Superior. It just arrived, in fact, so I'll be giving it a spin once I've installed the ludicrously massive amount of data. I'll probably get AD in the near future.

Some of the top metal mixers use our hits for their stuff, Andy Sneap and Jay Baumgardner come to mind. We even have two kicks known as the "metal kicks" they are kick5 and 15.
also check out these CUSTOMER demos with our hits:

More stuff I'd never heard of. Drumagogg too.
I'll have a listen.
I've been working with DFH Superior for the last day and I've finally got my head round the quirky interface. I think it's somewhat flawed, but I expect I'll get good results from it. AD is far slicker.
The cymbals in DFHS sound really nice.

Yeah I do..chagzuki wrote:Is anyone on KvR doing this style of music?
As far as drums go, I dont use many samples anymore except for the kick..
The only drum machine I got is Groove Agent and they have a "Grind" section, and while I dont find it great, it does a pretty darn nice job soundwise..
I personally use my own kick for sampling. And if for some reason I dont like it in the context of my song, I go back to the trusty-dusty DKFH.. But dont use the "metal Eq'ed" kick. I generally taker the plain kick "1" and tweak it as necesary, it becomes quite good when produced rigth.. I also use different velocity layers for the right and left kick, as too keep it from being to machine soundiung.. I never found a snare I like on most drum libraries.. ALthough havent tried that many lately..
Shameless plug, I have a song in the Cafe rigth now.. I actually like my drum sound, although they are live(mic'ed) except the kick is sampled/triggered..

None of that really comes close to Grind.. I know you are trying to sell a product, but for me those sounds are processed to shit.. It doesnt even sound like real drums anymore.
I dont know what Chagzuki is looking for, but Grind and Death metal dont usually try and go for the most processed snare and bass drum sounds. There is, though, a lot of death metal bands that go for that "typewriter" kick which is terrible, but I try and make the drums have some organic feeling in them, and keep the actual drum sound character intact, which those MP3 samples you posted have none of, otherewise it gets old real fast... Honestly out of those 3 samples, I would figure they all used the same drum samples.. And it soudns like you have many different drum samples.. Are they all processed to sound the same??

Great tune, Killvehicle. Nice in every respect.
How were the drums created?
Interesting comments about the vocals. Might partially be something to do with the recording. The level dips here and there, as though he's moving away from the mic.
Yeah, listening again, there's a sort of 'quietness' about the way the vocal sounds.

Thansk man,, I didnt want to be too off topic, but I wanted to show what I think works well in grind/death metal drum-wise.chagzuki wrote:Great tune, Killvehicle. Nice in every respect.

Those are live drums.. So they arent sampled, but the kick is, and I'm pretty sure that version has the DKFH sampled kick.. It is the "kik 1" which has no processing, so I was able to EQ it to fit my sound. I have been going back and forth between my own kits bass drum (which I sampled) and this DKFH one..
I am in the process of creating a sample set of my kit for later use with other bands and just for me to create demo's with..
Its a Gretsch Catalina Birch 6 piece (toms are 10, 12, 14 ,and 16 inch). You know its not the most expensive kit out there, but it really does sound nice..

thats three client demos that are using the same samps. if you go to www.stevenslatedrums.com you'll hear that we have a lot more then just metal sounds. When I think metal, thats the sound I sure think of, very processed, lots of hi end bite. There are a lot of metal records with our more metal hits like Kick5 and Kick15. But you don't have to use those for metal, you can use some of our more natural hits which again, can be heard a plenty on the page.

Well I actually DO mic the kiks, and then I used KTdrumtrigger(Audio to Midi) to create a midi file for use with samples. So its all "live" playing with only the kicks being replaced with a sample..chagzuki wrote:So how do you sync the kick to the recorded drums?

yeah many of those samples sound much better on your page.. In these MP3's, they sound very Very processed, which I feel is terrible.. Whether many "metal" records or not have them is irrelavant to me, basically becasue I KNOW many metal albums DO sound alike. IM sick of every album I hear sounding like a carbon copy of 100's of others... Thats prolly why I hated the examples in this thread..Slate wrote:thats three client demos that are using the same samps. if you go to www.stevenslatedrums.com you'll hear that we have a lot more then just metal sounds.
