Gee, I dunno: when did he say that?

I had no idea this thing was coming out, or that he was involved, until I "outed" him here. I noticed the "bM" right away, while I was thinking "this is like bManic's dream software compressor!"

Post

it was a few pages back, i think he has it listed i the news update on the first page of this thread.
He made one of the sampled comressors for nebula3 to. In the generic library2. I forget the name but its a dbx if i recall. Sounds good to.
Pro-C is like everyones dream software compressor isn't it?
As for nebula3, i just turned in a gig and a half of software reverb programs! So lookout for that bduffy.

Post

Holy crap! I'll keep me eyes peeled! <- Like that, see?

Post

hahaha, your face might get stuck like that be careful, you might start trippin over your eyes if that happens! Not sure if he will use them all or not but their coming in some form.

Post

Cool. What reverbs are we talking about here?

Post

Hey hey! No mentioning of reverbs in this thread! It's about compressors for **** sake!

Anyhow, sorry for the lack of updates to this thread and the lack of updates on the Pro-C examples and tutorials that I promised. I'll try to do it ASAP! Yes, the "mystery" compressor examples that I posted are from a beta version of Pro-C. At that time it was unsure when it would be released. :D

I also have a lot of tricks for Nebula3 and I've been sampling my dbx compressor a lot lately trying to figure out the best way to get it "cloned" with Nebula. I'm very very picky and it's not yet close enough to satisfy me but Giancarlo is working hard on the sampling engine to satisfy even the hardest critic, me!! (I've said it numerous times here on KvR, if you want me to beta test things.. be prepared to take some bitching!) :P

Cheers!

hahaha, thats good though. your bitching is helping to shape Nebula into the most amazing plug-in on the market(imo, it already is).
I often wonder what the AA beta forum looks like. Probably some super scientific jumble of audio madness. The program in the library is pretty good. Thats what is fascinating. I think the stuff is almost magical and very good. Then giancarlo comes along and says well thats not really that good we improving it now.Crazy.

Post

I've updated the first post with some new examples from a beta version of Nebula3. I was experimenting with a program that I sampled from my dbx 376 compressor which has been turned into a "numerical", "perfect", compressor. That is, it doesn't contain any coloring from the original unit nor does it contain any distortion kernels. Instead it is a perfect replica of the transfer function at extreme audio fidelity! This one could be sitting proudly in a mastering studio among top dollar gear! Just listen to what it can do!

Too bad this single compressor program uses up over 80% of my core2duo processor! :hihi:

Cheers!

Hi there, uhm i really cant read all that stuff. Maybe its somewhere deep down there, but -

Silly, Instant random question:

Can "reverse" Kompressing be achieved, to get an effect that can be used to take away the reverb from a track ?

I think i was in alot situation's searching for like this effect and it could have been usefull.

Probably the case that i dont remember myself using this effect makes me curious about the possibilty.

Maybe I'm just too infrequent

Doesn't that start hurting after a while? :hihi:

"Inverse" of compression = expansion (in a way)
Not sure if that's what you're looking for though.

Check this thread for ways to remove reverb.

Thanks for this outstanding thread. No matter how hard I try, my mixing skills just plain suck. I can write, play numerous instruments including semi pro drumming skills, but this mixing and mastering stuff has me licked.

Posts like yours really help those of us in need of examples we can hear.

Looks like FabFilter is doind a holiday sales with 20% off, just like some other companies (sonalksis for instance). So now is a good time to pick up that Pro-C compressor (of course the other plugins are fine as well but being a compressor nut I can't help but give Pro-C some extra special love!). :hihi:

Just wanted to give a heads up!

Cheers!
