Nerds are the ones that nobody likes...Nerds are still *out*

Funny actually, the more I look around these days, the more geeky looking guys I see with beautiful women...to the point that I think geeks are *in*. Makes me wonder If I should go super-skinny and buy tighter pants. :hihi:

@ Urs

Has that certain Mr Froese bought Zebra yet...

It would look the dogs dangly bits on the big LCD screens they have behind Edgar and Thorsten when they play live.

No & true...

I met him only once backstage after the 40th anniversary gig in Berlin Tempodrom (Jayney used to be a live singer for TD, that's how we get in there). When Jayney told him about things, he nodded in approval, we shook hands and that was it. Dozens of other people were waiting to occupy him, so no occasion for any further conversation...

There are some former TD members among my customers though - the problem with bragging about famous people for me is, they are normal (=paying) customers. Other companies offer them stuff for free to get their "endorsement". I don't do that because I think it wouldn't be fair to those people who save for months to get my stuff. I think that giving away stuff for free to people who probably can afford it (and yet probably never use it) is just insane. So, yeah, hehe, the list of famous u-he users is as long as the list of "endorsers" on other websites, but mine are happy that I leave them alone.

Only my future brother in law and his partner have to suffer of course. Big time! They got Zebra for free, but they have a lifetime obligation to pay for dinners :hihi:

Later,

;) Urs

I'm a little late to the party, but I want to echo what's been said so far about the new update, and especially the new presets.

I am glad that the preset library now seems to follow the 'quality over quantity' philosophy... And a super big wow + thanks to Howard for so many really stunning patches!!!

Love the 'Virtus' patch! I am assuming it's a pay-it-forward tribute to that now infamous comparison thread from a while back. :hihi:

Congrats Urs + crew. Zebra 2.2 is one stellar software synth.

These presets are phenomenal!

Zebra shines beautifully now.

Thanks to everyone - reading this thread brightened up my day!

Howard - any chance of a nice "Octave Doctors" type patch for Zebra 2? I know you do them so well :)

(I know there are some other Teapotty ones already but that's my favourite)

THAT's the spirit! Please do.
BTW the detailed anatomy of certain patches may appear more clever than it really is. That's because most of them "evolved" over several generations.

No problem. But I've done several (on various synths), and they all sound rather different. Could you tell me which synth (or which Gong / Tim Blake track) has the sound you're after?

Post

I think the one you did for Imposcar nailed it the best (VCS Threed) but I suspect Zebra could do it even better :) The Gong track is "The Octave Doctors and the Crystal Machine" off Flying Teapot (Radio Gnome Invisible part 1).

I also love some of the spacey and orgasmic sounds from Zero the Hero and the Witches spell (also a VCS I guess)

thanks - you're a legend 8)

Brilliant work Howard :) The force of Zebra has really surfaced with this update !

So its back to the clone zone for me :). Will be my first real (A/B-ing) attempt at these sounds on Z2.

i'd really love to see a book from howard for the zebra, similar to the :ahem:virus one from a while back: "Programming Virtual Analogue Modular Synths". c'mon people, bump this for me :)
