Can someone give me good sax and flute midi to test my patches? I'm so shit at playing.

Post

Can't help out with that yet, but Howard has contributed some snippets for other patches:

I like the All Strings+ quite a lot 8)

Why laugh? - You got the spirit!

I know patches are shit but I'm in the right direction.

Ah... wait... I got you wrong... I thought you were looking for examples about how these kind of patches are played... I have overlooked that it was *about* the patches...

Well, I think they're pretty much in the right direction. After another listen, the flute seems to be a bit sharp in the heights. Other than that these are probably closer to the real deal than anything I came up with so far 8)

In respect of Midi files, I think the problem is the use of controlers like Wheels, Velocity and Aftertouch. These patches beg to be played with a lot of expression, but there's no standard as to which controler is mapped to which parameter... thus it may be necessary to play stuff individually for each patch...

Yes it's about how they sound not how I played them. That's why I need proper midi to see where to go tweaking. And you're right about the flute. It always want to breakout in heights. Can't seem to find a way to settle it yet.

Pretty good attempt, but you have some "chorussy" modulation in your sound that needs to be smoother (IMHO). If you are modulating the waveset, try a bit less of that AND a higher oscillator resolution (7.00 should do fine)...Or is it a Comb filter, with detune against an oscillator fed into it?

:? :?

It's actually a chorus on insert :D

That's pretty darn good!

The attack is marvellous, but it also stands in the way for legato play. Maybe switch to legato mode, or use the ModWheel to add softer attack? Hmmm... havn't listened to (a real) sax in a while...

Impressive sound. The "puffy" attack is much more like a brass instrument - so it's definitely a SAXOR :), not a saxophone.

The saxor indeed. For copying or dare I say modeling (lol) I need the real sax and probably the real player. I'm just fooling around.
