Been playing a few hours now with the new 2.2. Its kinda weird to hear how Zebra have gotten a new personality, cant describe it. The reverb have changed ALOT for the better, behaving much more like i thought it should do. Also it feels like the comp act a tiny bit different now. But everything so far is for the better. There might be patches around that needs to be trimmed to the new personality, but thats the price for updates which brings us closer to the perfect machinery
If anyone experience weird behavior with the Oldskool Soundset with this new Zebra update i'd be happy to look into it and provide a workaround if possible.
Anyways, great great job Urs

The compressor shouldn't have changed to my knowledge, the reverb definately has if you were on a SSE2 machine (see version info on website for details to fold it back - if necessary)
Anyhow, you can't imagine how happy I am. I'll shell out a hotfix update for the "Spritex Phenomenon" which affects Z2 in Sonar, Tracktion, FLoopz, and what not. And thenit's doooone.
Tomorrow I'll, also do my monthly drum machine for s&r mag, and recover from a wineful meet with a couple of people tonite, some of which are regulars in German celebrity mags. Life takes funny paths

First of all, thanks and and congratulations on the update -- I've just begun playing with it and the new sounds are stellar.
One bug, however -- I've got an intance of Zebra open (one of 4 or 5 in my track) and the red "close window" button in the upper-left-hand window of Zebra is greyed out, and I can't close the instrument, except by turning it off.
I can't figure out what's causing it, it's not happening with the other instances. I'll see if I can replicate. The preset currently loaded is Fatty 03 MODBABBLER. I'm running Ableton Live 6.0.9 on a MacBook Pro, OSX v10.4.10 (2.16 HGz Intel core duo, 2GB memory). Nothing else seems to be wrong.

Not being able to close the instance sometimes happens to me, but I haven't got a reproducible set of steps that ensures this happens. Sometimes it works fine, and sometimes I can't click it. I'm also using Ableton Live (though I'm on version 7b15). It's a minor annoyance only, as you can open/close the instance from the wrench icon in Live just fine even when Zebra's x button is not working.

Urs,
I remember you saying in 2.2 you reworked the Reverb algorithm a bit (something to do with an SSE bug I think). Did those changes affect ZRev as well? I haven't messed with it lately and am wondering if I should.

ZRev is not officially supported... it's not affected by my SSE-dumbness as it isn't optimized for SSEbmrzycki wrote:I remember you saying in 2.2 you reworked the Reverb algorithm a bit (something to do with an SSE bug I think). i've found that this only happens after saving a patch.metajack wrote:Not being able to close the instance sometimes happens to me, but I haven't got a reproducible set of steps that ensures this happens. Is everybody too busy making music with Z2.2 - or why is it suddenly so quiet here at forum u-he?

Dunno... maybe it was too much recently... or maybe everybody is waiting that my schedule allows for a release of a certain patch collection...Howard wrote:Is everybody too busy making music with Z2.2 - or why is it suddenly so quiet here at forum u-he?

Thanks for the 2.2 update!
Everytime I play with this synth I'm amazed with its versatility: acoustic sound, FM synthesis, soundscapes, emulation of classic synths: Zebra does it all with great results.
When I look at the CPU meters they hardly move (one of my biggest complaints with a lot of other soft synths).
Above all it's a joy for non-technical musicians (like me) to create your own patches, it's a very intuitive synth.

new bug in fl studio 7.4
:
the cutoff of vcf1 has no effect after some time. when i load the same patch in an other instance it works correct. after loading in the same the bug is still alive. you can tweak the cutoff an nothing is changing. you can switch the filtertype and this mad thing is also in the other filtermodes.
this comes in simple patches with 1 filtermodule from time to time (not often).
here is an example. but after restarting zebra it works ok.
