Why? CMusic is commissioned by Computer Music magazine independently of Jo's release cycle. If you want to know whether there'll be another version, you'd be better off asking over on the Computer Music forums. Unless Jo wants to break the news first (which might be bad etiquet).

Not that asking there will help much, since I've never seen anything from CM saying ahead of time what might be coming in that arena.

OTOH (and at the risk of sounding disloyal ), the latest mag has Samplitude 9 SE on the disk, which I'm looking forward to trying out once the play I'm in ends its run. :)

Yes... beta D won't make it today, i'm sorry.

The 3 main reasons are:

1) i've been quite ill this week, terrible cold, not over yet. This has slowed down things by at least a couple of days.

2) i admit that i'm not always the best time-planner, especially when 3 big jobs need to be combined: mu.lab development, getting my house a bit livable, and last but not least my main job which makes my main income.
oh, and then besides this, one has to do the basic things of life (eat, sleep, cleanup, do admin, ...) and have a good party/concert here and/or there 8)

3) i've been doing some further thinking work on the conceptual / strategical level. and i want beta D to be a big enough step forward (towards pre-release).

Now i'm aware of the fact that beta C has expired.

But beta C is not an official working version yet, so in fact that shouldn't hurt.

LUNA pr 8.4 is still the official stable public version, and is still available from http://www.mutools.com/downloads.html

Maybe the fact that you temporarily can't use the mu.lab beta anymore (except if you tweak your system clock), might give you the opportunity to take some distance from it, and maybe you also have broader thoughts about this project. if so, always feel free to chat about.

Anyway, i'm doing the best i can to get the next mu.lab ready a.s.a.p. but also a.interesting.a.p.

MU.LAB beta D will definitely be a nice step forward.

The previous versions only featured the in-depth editing of the MUX and MuSynth, which is nice when you really want to do modular synth programming.

But that's far from playing / jamming / composing music.

I was not surprised when some users kind of complained about the difficulty of these modular monsters.

One of the next main goals now is to bring all this new modular technology also in a very easy format.

So that you can plug in a musynth, browse for a sound, tweak a handful of effectful knobs, jump to another sound, check that out and so on...

It's about musical usability :)

Talk to you soon.

Hey man, if it's good software it's good software, no prob :)

Hope i'll find the time to check it out too :D

Concerning CMusic: i will contact CM once mu.lab 1.0 is released.

And i take it as a high priority to release it before the end of the year!

Thanks, Jo. I figured you'd see it that way. :) I'd just gotten started w/the Samplitude v8 SE they had last November when I got involved w/the play, and now they've got v9. :D In the theme of using the things I've spent $s for, and since one of my projects was inspired by the bass synth they added to CM Studio recently, I've decided that all the sw for that song is going to be from CM disks (although I'm ruling out the disk from the freeware special as cheating :)). That actually offers excellent options since they've given away versions of Samplitude and Podium (and, I think, EnergyXT) just in the past year!

Meanwhile, I am looking forward to trying out Mu.Lab. :ud: I would have volunteered to beta test, 'cuz I love doing that, but I just don't have the time.

Marco,

I found something :-o

Isn't it that the hanging notes come when you play very *short* notes / chords?

Please be sure to check out MU.LAB beta D once it's there (you'll get email then) and verify if the hanging notes issue has gone.

I also PM-ed you this.

Ok, lets put another date on it: coming friday 23th.

1. Dual/multi core support.
Not yet, sorry.

(though MU.LAB is built with multi core support in mind, so it should come thru one day, but it's not planned on the 1.0 release)
2. Step recording from keyboard
Not yet. I must draw a line what's in version 1.0 and what comes later. This is for later. But it *will* come thru.
3. A Cross instead of that pencil :D
Huh? What do you mean?

With the Pencil i meant the pencil arrow ;)
I find it har to add notes with the mouse in the pianoroll with that pencil.

Why is that?

Just click with the pencil to add a note.

It's not that hard, is it?

Maybe i'm missing your point.

D-Fusion, by the way: does Firebird still doesn't work in beta C on your system?

It works fine here. (if no debugger in the background, otherwise it won't work)
