Hi,

1. imposible to convert sf2 with the latest version and use them
in the latest version.
2. but the conversion works with version 1.2, BUT !!!
my 500mb sf2 uses now 1000mb disk space...
First I thought it got coverted to 32bit but no,
all samples are still 16bit.
3. The exported VSTi again, saved 500mb of samples...

My samples are left/right stereo split. like all stereo sf2.
I think Maze used ONE stereo wav for each MONO channel.
This would doube the size, as it did.

Streaming is working VERY, VERY good !!!

But velocity is very wrong...
Maze is playing much too soft.

A velocity adjustment to change the response curve is needed
but not available in MaizeSampler.
(TruePianos does this very good, take a look http://www.truepianos.com/ )

Good work so far.

Cheers
Rene

EDIT: The exported VSTi's velocity response seams a bit better
but the samplers is very wrong,
it only plays the lowest 4 to max 5 layers from 8.

All in all, there is a HUGE difference to the imported sf2.

RE: Conversion failure. Could you be a bit more specific? We'll also have a look at the velocity curve issue.

Thanks for the suggestions for sf2 conversion and velocity curve.

what do you mean by saying "it only plays the lowest 4 to max 5 layers from 8"

We have 12 layers per instrument.

I get an alert box, 'conversion load failed', or so in verson 1.31
it loads ok into v.1.2

After MANY houres of try, I think I know whats wrong...

The sf2 was made with 'Extreme Sample Converter' http://www.extranslator.com/
MaizeSampler has problems with that sf2 conversion.
So I converted to GIG or SFZ(dont remember), than imported into 'AWave Studio' http://www.fmjsoft.com/awframe.html and from there exported to sf2.

Converting this sf2 with Maise WORKED !
Everything plays correctly now.

There are differences between the conversions of different
programs, but they all play correctly in any sampler.

I used 8 layers but the strange conversion
only played the lowest 4 to max 5 layers.

Why only 12 ?
sf2 can use 16 layers.
12 is a strange number...

Also it seams to me the reverb is always ON, using unnecessary CPU.

It would be great to have total control of the GUI of the exported VSTi.
Custom layout, size, knobs ect.
Also to show/hide knobs/controls would be nice.

You can still add 'Powered by Maize' and your URL,
but forcing people to use your GUI templates is not
a good commercial idea I think.

All in all you made a good but at the moment, a bit unfinished product.

The problems should not be too hard to fix,
just take a look at the created sf2 files from those converters.
The demo versions are fully functional.

Cheers,

The concept of layer in Maize Sampler is different in other sampler. It could be treated as different kind of patch in a instrument instead of velocity layer.

I happened on this thread as I'm working with the demo, version 1.31, and unable toload converted sf2s. I'm an ESC user, so reading about Midiworks' observation about ESC-created soundfonts, I created a soundfont in VSampler. Still no import. I will next trry Viena, though I am not at all pleased about the idea that I now have to rebuild my sf2s manually before conversion, or manually map my wavs in Maize despite the fact that i keep my libraries ready in sfz format for export via ESC to the diverse formats I work in. This workflow goes without a hitch, except for user error. I will be profoundly disappointed if I have to buy Awave just to get sf2s whose conversions are playable by Maize sampler. Not to be negative, but if Maize is so picky about which sf2s it will convert successfully from, its use-value is seriously diminished.

Agreed. I've been really checking Maize Sampler out and have been tempted to get it...but there still seems to be alot of issues with it that have scared me away from it so far.
