How to Install VB3 on Receptor?

Can someone walk me through this process?
I have not messed with installing anything beyond the standard unsupported install - ie...have not messed with the registry, gotten root access, etc....
I am computer savy, but have no Unix chops.
Should I just wait to see if the forthcoming Receptor software makes this an easy process? Or go for it....

I have just installed VB3 on my Receptor and it is certaintly worth it.
I followed an earlier thread and tried all of the steps...
getting root access, adding lines of code to the sysconfig file and that did not work.
Got in touch with Hibernation who had a solution that grants access to Regedit in WINE.
Once I had that here's what to do...
Install VB3 on your Windows machine.
Install VB3 on your Receptor.
Copy the VB_Reg file that comes with VB3
Paste it somewhere on your Receptor (in the VB3 folder?)
Open Regedit on your Receptor
Import the file to the Registry of the Receptor...this eliminates the typing of code.
Of course, you can just copy and paste the folder from one Registry to the other as well.
Voila! VB3 out of demo mode!
I think you already have the file from Hibernation...
If not PM me. If need be we can connect by phone and I will talk you through it.

I don't have that file, but as it turns out, I may not need it. Apparently version 1.2 of VB3 uses different copy protection and it might be a no muss/no fuss install. I will attempt it when I get my Receptor back from Muse and try it out.

Yes, VB3 1.2 doesn't use the Windows Registry any more, you just type your name and license code in the registration box and it does the rest. Make sure the folder where the file VB3.dll resides has write permission, because the program has to write a couple of files in there.
Let us know how it goes...

Great news, I'm really looking forward to trying VB3 on the Receptor. It sounds fantastic! Do you have to install VB3 on a Windows computer first? I'm all mac...

Anyone got 1.2 on Receptor yet, just tried it, came up as failed in unsupported but was actually installed, have not gone past the nag screen yet, can not click run demo and get rid of it to access the front panel, so i was wondering if the register button is working for the people who have bought it?

I just loaded 1.2 and the Registration page worked fine. I had 1.1 installed and working...this was much easier to deal with.c3boy wrote:Anyone got 1.2 on Receptor yet, just tried it, came up as failed in unsupported but was actually installed, have not gone past the nag screen yet, can not click run demo and get rid of it to access the front panel, so i was wondering if the register button is working for the people who have bought it?

VB3 1.2 installed succesfully and registered fine. However the seperate fx dll did not install and i can not see it in the fx list, unless im missing it under another name. Still as long as VB3 works Im not too fussed about processing anything through a seperate fx plug.

Well, I just DLed and tried it on my PC and was impressed - I've just bought it, hope it will install as easily on my Receptor. (Frank Joseph, if you're reading this, this looks like the answers to my complaints.)
The upper and lower presets change independently of each other, something that was a major hassle in NI's B4. And the vibrato/chorus is tweaked right out of the box to the exact character I love and can't find on B4. I'm sold..
