Hey cool! Great to hear your looking into the possibility. I don't know that much about how Maelstrom works actually, I was just throwing it out as an example of what I understood as using granular sampling for an oscillator. I don't really know how it's functioning is different from say symptohm, absynth or some of the reaktor granular synths.Urs wrote:I am evaluating possibilities here. Some things in Malström seem worth the hassle, others not so much. For something like that the samples would have to be heavily pre-processed.R.J.Dubya wrote:What I meant was actually loading a sample as an oscillator and playing it back in a granular fashion, scrubbing through the sample etc., much like reason's malstrom, or absynth for example. That's what I was thinking. It's pretty much the last thing I hope for with zebra...
I think in Malström the grains can have different size/tune... this wouldn't work with the Osc FX in Zebra.
Well, I'll give stuff a try once the sample engine is finished...![]()

But I do like the results that this kind of sound can give, very different from any VA osc, or additive, or FM sounds.
And cheers for sharing your plans with us, I think it only inspires more confidence in zebra's bright future!
