The reason why everything takes so long here is related to a recent outburst on plugin design creativity at u-he headquarters. The "smooth" compressor in Z2 is pretty much identical with its "Maximize" counterpart in MFM2 (and so are the other modes), just different ranges for Attack/Release - as certain screenshots revealed, it's roughly based on the principle of levelling amplifiers (hint: look out for big pictures on MFM2's website). The full package with Compressor-Expander-Limiter-LookaheadLimiter- TransientTool-Gate-Coloration is basically *there* on my machine, just not in a release-able shape... but I'm confident that this year will see a threefold in u-he's plugin portfoliopolitcat wrote:i've been hoping for a compressor plugin from urs for awhile.

Looks like it's time to label a jar "the u-he plugin fund" and place it on my kitchen counter to start saving up then!

I just played some more with the latest Z2 and my new controller (a KORG K61P). For some reason every once in a while I get a problem where note-off seems to stop working. If I mute the track the audio stops but when I re-enable the track and hit a note the problem comes back. If I change the preset the problem disappears. It doesn't happen all the time either, I can't narrow down exactly when it does yet. It's happened to me 3 times now over the course of a few separate days and I figured I'd mention it.
The biggest difference between this controller and my last one is the M-Audio Axiom sent note off messages as note on with velocity 0. The korg sends note off as note off messages with velocity 64. Here's a snippet from Midi Monitor on OS X with the Korg:
I don't have the M-Audio anymore but I remember seeing Note off messages being like I mentioned above. I'm not sure if this is a beta problem or a new controller off message problem or possibly a problem with Korg's implementation itself. I will say I haven't had this problem with Reason or Filterscape VA though.

I've definitely been noticing the phase reset thing more... has the fix to this been posted yet?

Actually, this is something I had noticed too. I have had this since 2.2 on PC I'm afraid and I think earlier versions (back to 2.0) did this.Urs wrote:No, I think not. Will fix asap!CinningBao wrote:This Z2b7 is resetting the oscillator phase each time stop and start my project in Live7, so any sounds built on dual/quad/11 are all phasy'n'orrible for the first few bars..
Am I the only sufferer?
Lucky for me, it doesn't reset everytime I hit stop / play, but instead everytime I load a project, but it's still quita bad. My workaround is to have a few bars of notes playing before the track which I play before working on the tune to get the phases to sit right
Help me bug Urs to fix this one hehehe
Cheers

I have noticed too that Zebra2 has this problem, and unfortunately it seems the beta does it worse
I have to press some keys multiple times to get rid of the phase effect, and get proper detunings.

It would be great to get a fix for this sooner rather than at the final release, even if this is the only thing changed, as I'm working on a bunch of songs that practically NEED the new Z2 beta features, but the phase reset issue is making them very hard to use.

What exactly does this Phase reset sound like? Can i notice it with certain patches when i start up?

Just create a new instance and set the first osc to Eleven with some detune. Play a note several times and you will notice the first few times you play it, there is a flangerish sound there. It clears up after a few notes.
It is to do with the phase of the oscillators, the flanger sound is usually created when the oscillators all start at the same phase and are detuned. It clears up because the notes end up getting random phases which gives the desired sound.

I can't get Z2.2.1b7 to work in Live 7.0.3 (on a Q6600 - can't remember what mobo) The VST seems to load (with the 'initialize' preset) but the GUI doesn't appear, just an empty frame. I've switched back to Z2.2 and all is ok. Maybe I should upgrade Live (but then I don't like upgrading unless there is an obvious gain in functionality, or there's a bug fix that affects my use - kind of, if it ain't broke don't fix it).
Edit: I've read through all of this thread and seen one comment that this also happens with Live 7.0.2. Does this happen in further upgrades of Live, or is it worth me upgrading to the latest version (7.0.8?)?

You can judge it for yourself with the latest beta in demo or registered mode. Check out the first post in this thread for download links here.nebulae wrote:Has anyone posted any mp3s of the 11-osc mode? Tarne me out!!!
