I'm interested as hell but I do have some questions before purchase:

- Is this unit available yet?
- When I buy it from Ikmultimedia.net will this unit ship from Italy or the US?
- Does it have a European (220V) powerplug?
- Can the unit also store other plugins (plugins that are not by IK)?
- I can connect multiple midi devices to play/trigger multiple plugins (as in "at the same time"), right?

thanks! :)

I'm very interested in this too, but there isn't much info about it. I called Muse and asked about the hardware specs (it's a rev c) and whether it had rackmount ears (it does). I also asked whether it came with the software (boxes and DVDs) and they said yes, but didn't sound sure.

It can host other VSTi plugins, it's basically a Rev C with a 160GB hard drive and all of the IK Multimedia plugs pre-installed.

The Receptor only has one MIDI out, but you can chain devices using OUT and THRU.

Maybe someone who has bought one can comment further. I will probably be ordering one soon.

Yeah, me too. This would be the perfect live solution for me and the cross grade prize over at IKmultimedia is extremely interesting. I'm pretty sure I'll pick one up. I did e-mail Muse and IK with the questions though.
I'l keep you posted on this.

With Komplete the price is for a custom Rev C standard Receptor. I ordered a Pro Junior w. Komplete for extra $$$. If you need the IK stuff in a larger Receptor I'm pretty sure Muse will accomodate that. It came with the Komplete Retail package, etc,

Yeah, thanks MortimerBenz. I'm aware if that. :)
That's still leaves a few unanswered questions though.

Yes.

I think Italy (Muse supply IK, IK fulfil Euro orders).
- Does it have a European (220V) powerplug?
Receptor's PSU automatically switches to 110/220/240 as required. The relevant power cord is supplied for the country shipped to.
- Can the unit also store other plugins (plugins that are not by IK)?
Yes. It is a standard Rev C Receptor, albeit with a red faceplate. Only IK plugs are installed from the factory but any other plug-ins can be installed, including all the Receptorized ones available via Plugorama. Plus the Direct Install ones, etc.

Thanks Ben! :) :) :)
That's all good news so far. 8)

I'm interested in this item as well.

Will full versions of Amplitube 2, Metal, Hendrix, and x-gear be able to be installed on it? I know it has the lite editions but what if I want the full deal?

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Thanks.

Not yet. Amp 2 does not work properly on Receptor 1.7 (I'm not sure what the issue is but there is a reason engineering won't release it for 1.7). The issue is expected to be resolved in a future (hopefully the next) Receptor system update as far as I'm aware. I don't know when that will be though.

I got one of these last week...good deal ($1699).

I am very happy with the Receptor itself, and I appreciate the deal from IK, but they really need to change the startup multis for a better 'out of the box' experience. It took 7 minutes to boot the Receptor and I thought something was wrong...it turns out that they are loading all 5 instruments with massive banks of samples to show off their stuff! I deleted the default multis and now it boots in 40 secs...

Regardless, it seems like any of the engines from IK take a while to load. They load very quickly on my PC, so maybe they are just more picky on Wine/Linux?

I like the SampleMoog and Mirslav players :D

The IK stuff has a switch to rescan samples upon startup. You might want to see if that's on (and turn it off). It makes a big difference in startup times and isn't needed.

Did you order the TWS in the USA? How long did it take to get it? Did it come with the IK software on DVD as well?

Thanks for the tip...I will try that.

I ordered in the US from the IK website, and they sent it 2-day UPS, but charged me for shipping.

I did not, however, receive the install DVDs. I can download the full installers from their user area, but I am going to have to pull all of the samples (27 gig!) from my Receptor HD apparently...unless anyone has more information.

Oy, that's a deal killer for me...

This is a little bit off the subject but not totally.I have a Receptor and would like to get the sounds for Sampletank 2.5 XL and install them on the Receptor as I already have the Sampletank 2.5 engine installed on my Receptor because I bought Sampletank several years ago . I noticed on the IK online store that the upgrade with the sounds for 2.5 is available as a download at their store. I also noticed that there is VAT charge of 20% does that mean if anyone were to order from the IK store from the U.S would they get charged the 20% VAT? Sorry to hijack this thread.
