eeeek, I didn't know this was the case :(
No worries!

I'm a bit paranoid by nature. This year is very tricky in terms of tax though because changes in the German tax system force tax payers to resolve "losses declared in advance". By declaring losses in advance, one could bring down the current tax bill by saying that some money had been put aside to fund next year's expenses. Which many people did, pushing this over years and years. But now this goes away, and everyone has to cover the postponed taxes. In my case this is quite marginal, maybe two months of average sales, but I really want to have a comfortable cushion first before declaring things.

If anyone got a negative impression, u-he is doing pretty fine. No debts, one tooth less (soon to be replaced by an implant) and really great prospects. I have only started to get serious about old age pension this year, so I havn't even lost much in the global crash (doing a fonds-based life insurance).

Later,

So pretty much being irresponsible has saved you a good chunk of money ?
That's a relief to slackers all over the world.

Glad U-he is doing well Urs, ps don't forget about Filterscape updates

Really? I can't believe everybody wants more, more, more from Zebra. It's already pretty much the best soft-synth around... any features added to it are a pleasant surprise.

Same thing goes for Filterscape (which I really want to buy soon hahah) and MFM2 (which I love dearly). Does anybody really *need* more features for these beasts? I never really understood the I'M WAITING FOR THE NEXT UPDATE mentality (except in the case of something like Live, where *everyone* is dying for the same feature--*cough* more than 128-parameters *cough*-- or major show-stopping bugs, like in the early releases of Kontakt 2). I mean, Audio Damage and Ohm Force practically never update their plugs, and they're pretty much my most used effects.

I'm all about wanting Uhbik right now. Zebra already does its job perfectly for me, and now I want more u-he effects! :hihi:

I say, keep doing what you're doing and want to do, Urs, because you're doing a great job.

I'm not really interested in taking a side re: the original question in this thread, but it seems worth pointing out that the opening post isn't asking for "more, more, more" at all -- if anything, it's speculating that "less, less, less" might be a better strategy, allowing some rough edges in the existing product line to be polished.

I think we'll see plenty of polish from U-He in the future...

Right now uhbik and maintenance stuff, then he has X.5 releases planned for zebra AND filterscape! I'm pretty excited, since I'll probably buy into zebra for X.5, I already have filterscape, and I'm definitely going to take advantage of the uhbik intro offer.

Once all the plugins are on the same new page with resizing and skins, I'm sure things can only get better.

One request for the major updates though... Would it be possible to come up with one, solid, clean looking way to save and load patches and then implement it into all of the plugins? Right now it's different from one plugin to another, with some of the preset loaders showing their age more than others.

I probably shouldn't betray them, but I know that some of the most respected drum&bass artists use Filterscape, the VA as well as the effect. it's one of their secret weapon. after trying it, I understand why... a simple bassline played by this comes to life.
It's not what you use, it's how you use it...

Maybe he isn't eating enouph.

This is the point of having an engine... all plugins inherit the "services" such as file handling, gui features etc from the engine while the actual difference of the plugin is in the concept, design and process algorithms.

I have compiled Filterscape yesterday too to bring it up to the latest things and the screen resize works flawlessly. There's some stuff that needs to be adjusted though, but that'll be easy.

Now back to bugfixes.

whoa,
this uhbik thing was wearing on my brain and last night I was down the basement in the book room, I look around and there's the PK Dick shelf.

ok I'm a little slow, but I catch on with time
(what it's spelled different because of German translation or copyright issues?)

Now I'm going to have to reread a few of these
probably start with '3 stigmata of Palmer Eldritch'

before somebody makes movies out of the remaining masterworks

The "uh" in Uhbik is an abbreviation of my name, as is u-he. But because "u-hebik" wouldn't sound good, it's just Uhbik.

Color me clueless. I've been so buried in Zebra the last several months that I'd all but forgotten about Urs' other offerings. Filterscape looks VERY interesting. I just started working on a track that would benefit from some tripped-out vocal effects and the like, and this looks like it might be just the ticket. Must...demo...soon.
