I've installed lucida sans unicode but it doesn't really fix it. Ach well, 2.3 works flawlessly, so I'm happy :)

Hmmm... I think lucida sans is that cryptic l_10646.ttf in my Win Fonts folder...

I don't have any lucida font(s) installed here. Wild guess: ttf-bitstream-vera package?

I have that one installed too. Could you check if you have anything in the ~/.wine/c_drive/Windows/Fonts folder?

Nope nothing. Now you're making me paranoid, like my computer only treats me this good if it wants something.

Holà!

I have reverted to the "regular" 2.3 now because for me the beta just wouldn't accept any serial number supplied by The Man. So I continue hacking away on the same old and I must say some additional modulation-slots will indeed come in handy one day. Still there's loads of things I can think of trying as it is.
Back to work...
Have a nice evening y'all.

Maybe you have newer version of wine than I have. I just have the stock ubuntu jaunty install.

You mean version 1.0.1 ? I'm using 1.1.25 (probably 1.1.26 tomorrow-ish).

Ok, I fixed it. Moving the font into the wine/windows/fonts folder fixed it. For some reason wine doesn't load that font out of the linux system folder on my machine.

I installed crossover 8 last night (got a license for free last year): it's a hell of an improvement, I got live 7 to work!!

Maybe I should also upgrade my wine install to the beta versions, I heard good things about it.

Any idea when the official version will be released?

I've been holding off until the Unempty Horse skin is ready...

Yeah but isn't he like working on 3 or 4 things at the same time? Urs is multitasking very well I guess but I would like the concept of time to do some multitasking too. Dunno how it would work though... :)

Okay... here's the latest:

Everything was pretty far and finished when I decided to have a new installer to overcome certain issues with Vista. So I hired a developer to do an installer and he did a great job. Meanwhile I discovered some things that might need change (see "Zebra's biggest flaw" and imagine a feedback knob in Uhbik-G's ui). So I became a bit depressed about the new amount of work in front of me, and I got yet another nasty stye in my right eye, much like the pile of pus I had in my left one last year :x

Because I thought I couldn't work properly anyway (the antibiotics create a foggy film on the eye...), I dug up an old project of mine and moved it a bit into a different direction. Unfortunately that hooked me so much that I didn't sleep a lot in 4 weeks. It actually became the foundation of what's now known as "the ultimate time destruction device":

Sound: http://www.u-he.com/music/test.mp3

:o

Funnily it opened my eyes about some things that might be nice to have as modifications in
Zebra too. For instance, it's got a working Duophonic mode and two independent Glides. And an improved version of Zebra's "LP Vintage2" that can do this:

http://www.u-he.com/music/StartledFilter.wav

Which I think - after playing around a bit - is now a must have.

So please be patient for another couple of weeks... I promise that the wait is way more than just worth it!

:D

;) Urs

P.S.: As of yesterday the pile of pus is pretty much gone. Vision is almost clear again and I guess I can go back to normal work soon!

Urs, I wish you all the best for a quick recover.

Question about the new filters, modules and so on; will we be able to access also legacy filters while programming a new patch or will they only be automatically used for old patches without the ability to directly select them?

I think that the new features, originally thought as replacement for older "worse" ones, should have a different name, for example a trailing "+" or so... This way, old patches go on using their original modules, but who programs patches can choose between old and enhanced.

what do you think?

Thanks,
Mario
