Hi all

This topic should get all the controversy going.

I have spent most of my life hiding in the shadows, due to stage fright and confidence issues (maybe I am not good enough, what if no one likes my music etc, that kind of thing) but have always wanted to perform my music to a live audience.

I have now come to a point in my life where I could not give a damn. Life is too short so I am going to get on with it for better or for worse.

So there is no misunderstanding. This topic is NOT about, is MU.MAB more stable in Windows or mac. I am sure Jo's programming is excellent in both.

One of the reasons for finally choosing Ableton Live 8 is that is an excellent performance DAW and is also happy in both Windows and mac.

* Now to the point of the topic. *

MU.LAB is steady as a rock. It is programmed for both Windows and mac.

I have always been a Windows user and zero mac experience.

After M3 is released, I am pretty sure it will be my performance DAW of choice.

I will need to purchase two new laptops (one for backup).

Should I buy Windows or mac, which OS is best for live performances?

I will set the scene. You are walking on stage on your own. Your Stratocaster around your neck. MU.LAB will be playing your background sets for you. The spot light turns on you. (gulp!)

Windows or mac OS?

Use the cheapest that gives you the performance and stability you need. (That's extremely likely to mean Linux.)

Buy a PC and a Mac. Best solution. :D

Hi TristezaOrange and greeting once again pljones,

These are not bad ideas.

One PC as main laptop other backup laptop could be mac, best of both worlds (maybe).

Does MU.LAB run in linux? I could use redhat/mandrake or similar. But would my OEM VST/VSTi run in linux?

I worked with both and then z3ta+ came along and it was PC all the way.
I love that synth. A tool of expression is more important than OS for me.
Stability: keep your windows XP clean and you'll never know how to spell the word Crash...

The Mac is cool but for exploration is very limited.
My business depends on computer performance and we did choose XP and we never looked back. All the doors are open. In music is the same. I rarely find a software that is not PC platform while the opposite is very very common.

I was a Mac evangelist now I play music on a PC. Go figure.
Happy happy happy.

Hi liquidsound,

I to am a user of z3ta+ and is much part of my sound. I have stopped at Windows XP SP3 and concider it the most stable Windows so far, Vista - I not like.

To all - Please keep your comments coming they are indeed very good food for thought.

Yes anubis2010

the z3ta+ has "Joy" built in preset :D and that is the Windows commitment.
Now, MuLab Mac only that could be a dilemma!

Hi liquidsound,

Just been on Cakewalk site looking at z3ta+ system requirements.

"Windows 98SE, ME 2000, XP"

NO mention of linux or mac

You are right, windows ONLY :o

I can not do without z3ta+ so I guess its Windows XP x 2 laptops.

Cheers everyone for replying.

Well thats one decision firmly made.

I saw a girl on TV the other day not too sure what her name was might have been Madonna she seems to sing a nice tune or two. Maybe she would like to be my supporting act once I get started. Anyway I have tried to look her up in the phone book under "M" but she is not listed. Oh well. :(

Cheers liquidsound

Hi liquidsound,

Can you not see the band on stage with the audience?

Maybe I have used too many Emoticons.

If you cannot see the picture do not worry I was just being silly.
