[quote="Urs"]Well, the XMF got slightly more expensive... and the normal filters get their overhaul too. LP Allround has just seen some major improvements

I don't want to be annoying and too a hammer about this topic, but I'd love to get reassured about the fact that all current patches and settings will sound *exactly* like in Zebra 2.3.
I have some sounds in songs that I fear will sound different when updating Zebra (XMF is there, and every little change in resonance or filter response can make a huge difference in a mix).
Thanks,
Mario
P.S. Of course I could avoid updating Zebra until my songs are done, but I'm slooooowww when producing

Now, urs may have since changed his plan, but he came up with a spiffy trick where all presets created with 2.3 or lower would load in a "2.3 mode" where all the algos were the same as in 2.3 rather than using the new 2.5 ones.

Yes, and I was quite happy about it, but now with all the changes in XMF (where there doesn't seem to be a 100% legacy compatible mode) I am having some concern...MitchK1989 wrote:Now, urs may have since changed his plan, but he came up with a spiffy trick where all presets created with 2.3 or lower would load in a "2.3 mode" where all the algos were the same as in 2.3 rather than using the new 2.5 ones.

No no, all is well.mabian wrote:Yes, and I was quite happy about it, but now with all the changes in XMF (where there doesn't seem to be a 100% legacy compatible mode) I am having some concern...

All patches done with versions 2.0 to 2.3.x will load in 2.3-mode and sound exactly the same as before. All algorithms that have been renovated exist twice. One's in the old form and one is in the new form. That's also true for the XMF.
A right-click on the main display brings up the option to switch between 2.3 compatibility mode and 2.5 native mode. To reiterate, an old preset automatically loads in 2.3 mode.
For 90% of the patches all teh difference you hear may be a slight change in volume because I'm trying to create a more homogenic volume among modules.

Not too far.red37 wrote:How far away is Zebra 2.5 Urs?

There are still some little things that I'd like to change (e.g. useless Cluster mode in Comb filters) and some additions to make (e.g. Duophonic mode). But I think I can at least post screenshots soon.
However this week is a bit weird, there are loads of things that keep me from coding. I even have to take the weekend off.

I am looking forward to the final release. The new filter modes will be a pleasure to experiment with. After I switched to the 2.3 I feelt Zebra sounded a bit "rounder", and I have no idea why. This is good not badUrs wrote:Not too far.red37 wrote:How far away is Zebra 2.5 Urs?

Please dont change the Cluster mode in the Comb filters, some of my presets need them.
I hope the latest updates will come in the manual, good for reference. E.g I could not find the SB1 SB2 in the manual.
Cheers

They'll sound identical in 2.3 - compatibility mode
I've planned to do a Youtube video for each module. That's the best way to quickly have a manual that people actually look intoI hope the latest updates will come in the manual, good for reference. E.g I could not find the SB1 SB2 in the manual.

I was imagining that the distortion module, whether in 2.5 or 2.6 would arrive about the same time... If there would be a big delay, 2.5 would be better then!kodama wrote:I guess I'm one the few that thinks the new distortion module would totally warrant delaying 2.5

Oh, one small correction for 2.5 if possible.
The formant filter module has the vowel parameter. When you go to the mod matrix, the filter parameter does not say vowel. It says the generic drive (or was that gain?). Be nice if those would match
