Early look at the GUI

I rather like the "cut-off" knob parameter, since its circumference ends (becomes straight/flat) where the knob-pointer begins and ends... except for the ones on the lower row having a fuzzy (knob?) "shadow" in the bottom-right-hand portion, which makes them look odd, particularly compared to how clean the bottom-edge of both PAN and VOLUME knobs are.

Other than THAT, I love the new GUI 8) thank you.

Believe me, I want it more than you do :D I have to take some serious risks in my life for that though, like quitting a stable job, and become a full-time plugin developer.

Personally, I'd want Mac to die alone and suffering. But to be constructive: I think synthmaster needs to be more 'complete' to start thinking about a recoded or a parallelly-developed version.

I'd say, for these words, you're out buddy rectus_dominatum

Are you kidding  It's not going anywhere anytime soon. Most of the "pro"s are on the Mac, just like most of the "paying" customers.

If VSTGUI works out well, porting to OSX wont be too diffucult. I'll start investigating around mid-December. And hopefuly I'll work on it in January full-time, so in Febrary we should have at least an OSX VST alpha/beta release.

And the good thing on my end is I have some really good connections at Apple at good places. Will try to convince them to make SynthMaster a part of OSX? Wouldnt that be cool? Like a player version of SynthMaster that comes right out of the box with GarageBand? 8)

Curious... I'd be somewhat hesitant to let that second bit get out, as it might inadvertantly frustrate the number of thieving amateurs desiring to migrate to "pro" status, given its "historic" (albeit 'dated') association with "macs".

p.s. "Mac" users have small weenies, btw.

I don't know if Apple folks can be convinced of including Synthmaster, although it's a great idea. It is a huge company, with it's own goals and strategies, so it means big decisions.

EDIT: I'll go find a mac vs pc topic to share my opinion about it

Of course it's very unlikely to happen, especially if you consider the fact that Apple already has its own plugins in Logic. Nevertheless, going OSX is our top priority after the official release.

Changes that I've made are the plug is a bit smaller, I've added a great deal of color due to requests, I hope that it is of a benefit, I've changed the knobs so the modulation menus are very close the knobs.

You're doing a wonderful job, and it's getting better and better all the time :)

If you don't mind I'd suggest one thing about the knobs/modulation menus. Instead of trying to explain what I mean I modified your screenshot:

... Or something like that :)

I have actually tried that several times! Heres the thing, the edge on the modulation box can not be rounded, it has to be square. I like the rounded corner, I don't like the squared one which it why its still just some free floating set of boxes still.

so essentially it would look like this, at least this is what I tried before...I didn't like it but if everyone else does, I can still do that.

My 2c, I personally like the free floating boxes. It seems cleaner and more clear cut for me that way. Square or rounded boxes...don't care, but I'm definitely not a fan of the knob surround touching the mod boxes.

+1.

Though I like "soft-cornered" boxes as well, having the elements seperated is preferable.

And just to show that you can't please everyone completely - I prefer the Branis mock-up. But then again, I can't remember seeing any of his work that I didn't like. But perhaps the background color in the text boxes is too dark - not enough contrast.

I like the modified Hils version above also - maybe just move the boxes down a bit to please the other guys.

unless KV331 wants it I think I'm going to leave it out and keep it the way it is. Not having it keeps it all seperated into its little sections and matches everything else that I've done like that with a 1px border. I'll perhaps try to match the text in the boxs to the modulations so they are linked by color, all this type of stuff can be changed in the editor.

Folks,

I dont have a specific preference. Whatever you guys think looks better, I'll accept that  It's great to work this way by the way, openly, not behind closed doors secretly 8)
