BTW is it normal that some patches are taking up 1 whole cpu on my 2.93 ghz Imac when playing a simple chord?
Why I'm awake right now is a mystery, but if your simple chord has 1) long release times, 2) uses 'many' voices, 3) uses lots of stacked voices, or 4) is on a high quality setting, all these things contribute to the processor usage. I'm sure a variety of other factors can also be taken into consideration, but these would be the most significant factors I believe.

Oh yeah, buy the synth. Patching stuff is much easier once you use it than fiddling with lots of drop downs and other do-dads.

just tested it out..

its really really cpu taxing.. will the final version be better??

I'm curious kind of processor are you testing it on?

LFO2 is *replaced* as PWM source by m-wheel (or are you using a multiple?)

Hi Urs,
the more I play ACE the more I like it.
The first time I found the sound a little bit cold.
But the more I play it I hear more "warmth" in the sound.
Strange but true.

The only thing I would wanted for ACE would be a arpregiator and/or
a stepsequencer and perhaps some more "bread and butter" sounds.
Any chance for it?

The chances for vast improvements are very small. The code is pretty much as optimised as it gets. I've been meaning to try some simplifications but d'oh, there's really not much one can do.

The mod mapper is your friend ;)

You can already do that. It isn't as fine as it gets, but if you use the mouse wheel with the mouse button clicked, then it does fine adjustments (just tested on Mac, I might have to verify this on Win)

Cheers,

;) Urs

Of course! I thought about it the wrong way. I changed my routing from MW to LFO2 (override ADSR2). This also makes for even less cables than my original patch. Thanks a lot for the help!

my PC isn't great.. amd 7750 2.7 dual core.. if i play a pad with around 4-5 notes, its over 70% in Live 8

still love zebra at least.. got the CM version.. think i might have to pass on this one, it sounded really nice too bad my PC is not up to par

Yeah, sorry. ACE is on the opposite end of Zebra in terms of cpu usage...

Thanks Urs !

Hi Urs,
I have also a problem with the cpu usage, so that I have to set the
quality switch to "draft" for the most presets.

What do you think about realizing a "render quality" switch so that I can play
the sounds in the draft mode to record a song?
But when I want to render the song the rendering happens always in the best quality.
