Actually an indicator is a good idea and if possible it could also show the grid's current setting... a little number indicator within it. <edited>

I know... it's endless....:hihi:
but the Visual(Hyde-Show)/Snapping(On-Off) flow it is very important. 8)

Is it possible when dragging a track into another to make it a subtrack?
Right now when you drag a subtrack it becomes a regular track but not the other way around. It would be great to clean up a ever growing composition, otherwise you've got to think way ahead.

Ok, tuned in the next version.

pquenin wrote:Bug in 3.0.7 :
Open a new session : the Rack A has a green label.
I add a new track, choose target, new plugin in a new rack : the rack is created with the plugin in the first slot, OK.
Now I give the focus to the new rack : its label become green and a blue line appears around it (I've never notice this in M27).
Then I go to another rack -> it crashes (sometimes I have to switch between racks several times before it crashes).
Indeed. Fixed in the next version which will be distributed asap. Thanks for spotting!
Well there are other ways to have a crash but this one works for me.
I don't know what is this blue line around the racks, but sometimes it appears after a long time, maybe it is the reason why the crash happen ?
Ok, tuned this so it's the same as in M27.

But can we have a tooltip on the part that show its target ???????
bpblog wrote:i'm with pquenin on this one, i actually quite miss the lovely part/sequence property panel. :D
Yes, i understand. I took it away because it became obsolete due to the track targets. Maybe that one should come back too then; Will give it some thought.

the only problem left from the user-friendly side of things is that there is no visual indication of whether the snap-to-grid is ON or OFF.
Look at the mouse cursor info box at the bottom right of the editor.

Based on the position info there, it's easy to know when snapping is on of off.

bpblog wrote:the loop on/off button reminded me... i miss the effect that right-clicking the beat measure display had in m2. it used to rewind the track to the begining, and i used to click on it all the time (still do, but that results in a :dog:), like an addict, while working on short loops and bits.
Oops, i wasn't aware of that. It's a bug! :D
in m3, it toggles the clock display on/off. can we have the clock display always on, as it is a very nice combo of clock + beat counter, and bring the old functionality back?
Right-clicking is preserved for context menus, sorry.

But you can assign a keyboard shortcut to Rewind if you want.

About the beat + clock: I think it looks nicer for a newbie if only the beat is there. And an advanced user can easily toggle it so that it also displays clock time.

I try to keep the GUI as simple as possible. Every extra bit of info on the screen makes the GUI more complex.

I'm confident the current grid system is an improvement compared to M2, and it has a nice balance between simplicity and feature-depth.

Thanks again for your nice suggestion to always show the grid and separate the Snap On/Off :tu:

Hi Jo,

I like the beat counter as it is, nice and BIG.

When I jam with my guitars I am far away from the screen and use the BIG beat counter to let me know when to come in. Getting old eyes not as good now.

It also makes MU.LAB look nice. The toggle for the time is good.

If there are already subtracks for a track you can also move 'main' tracks above/below these subtracks and so the moved track becomes a subtrack too.

The problem only exists if there are no subtracks yet.

Solution: First create a dummy subtrack then move the tracks below this subtrack, then when done you could delete the dummy subtrack.

I could also evaluate this improvement: When you drop a track on a track (lower half) while holding [Alt] then the moved track will become a subtrack of the target track. Tried it, yes it seems to work nice. Please checkout the next version.

Jo,

Will the final version be distributed with an installer?

Post

No, MU.LAB is distributed in a zip package, lean and mean.

Post

M Test 3.0.8 available.

Most importantly the Rack Desk crash bug should have gone now.

And the Part Property Panel is back in the game <-> Part Targets.

Talk soon 8)

Post

Thank you !
maybe a bug in 3.0.8 : when I change the tempo above the counter (the small one), the time position is not changed accordingly...
