I tend to agree... Wheel scrolling is more natural
Just checking: Do you know that you can:

Click middle mouse button and drag the whole editor to the left/right/up/down

Or

Click right mouse button and drag the whole editor to the left/right/up/down

Post

Of Course! That's the best Key editor feature!
But my previous post (just while you were posting yours) elaborates more on this.

To be continued tomorrow ;)

Bug:

If I drag a Track into its own Subtrack by accident MuLab Crashes.

And don't forget the "Wheel" thing tomorrow.
Good Night.

I agree

Also I was wondering if i can add output pins somehow from musynth, i've asked about this a while back but can't remember what came of it, either way if you can't add them by inserting a output module i see no reason to even have that action allowed, it's kind of a breach in continuity.

Ok well gonna go switch computers and give 3.0.8 a try... sometimes i hate not having my daw hooked up to the internet

Coming back to Scrolling.

This is used by leading CAD programs: (I could make a little video if needed)

While Holding/Grabbing something, (Note or Part), with the left click, press also the right click and drag around. In this way the limitation of the window area are eliminated. The Note/Part stays with you as long is left clicked.

You do not longer need to drop the Note + Scroll + Grab Note again + drop in place etc.

It takes five minutes to get used but then you can't live without it!

Just an Idea....(maybe your CODE could allow this without problems, otherwise forget it!)

BTW: No DAW has this one. No One!!! :troll:

Auto-Scroll, as in any window folders, could do just fine, more or less.
(M3.5?)

Sorry Jo, I know you need Bugs, but it feels like "Last Call" at the PUB

Maybe, this can be a "preference"...
Yes, it's not a bug but it's about a well designed M3...

Something else :
as the presets for the internal synths and effects can't be controlled by midi program changes, can we have shortcuts for the "<" and ">" buttons on the plugin editor window ? It can be usefull too for the VST that don't react to PC.

i'm with you guys. using the mouse wheel to scroll is a logical default.

i had no clue, that is an awesome trick. what if we switch things around, making the wheel do the scroll, and a mousewheel-click do the zoom thing. this would probably feel more natural for some (most?) users, and we would also be able to zoom horizontally an vertically at the same time.

liquidsound wrote:It would be also useful to be able to Wheel Scroll while grabing a note or Part to overcome the lack of auto scroll window in the Composer and key editor.
It eliminates the double action to zoom out (and/or zoom in again) to position a Note/Part in the right place, mostly with small grid setting and long parts.

Or at least being able, while grabbing (holding a note/part,) to RightClick Scroll, as it is now implemented, to freely scroll where is needed.

<edited>

Maybe a "Zoom in" "Zoom Out" shortcuts while holding something (less elegant).
Scrolling while dragging is on the whishlist, but not yet in M3.

Wow, "Edit Shortcuts" has no Shortcut :hihi:
This is actually in my M3 usability txt at home. I agree, it seems strange that the more common operation is more complicated to access.

Fixed in the next version, thanks!

Adding a shortcut key caused MuLab to shutdown and I had to force it closed from the task manager. So far that is the only problem I have seen. :D

It's on the whishlist.

For now: if you want to use separate outs for a MuSynth/MUX then just use 2 MuSynths/MUXes and separate things this way.

I'll check whether i can easily make a preference for it.

Added a note on the whishlist.

I think it's more of a habit. I know people who say the exact opposite.

And so when i was r&ding i checked other apps and tried to find the 'most common way' and i came to the conclusion: Mouse wheel zooms.

I also think Google Earth's navigation is great, and becoming a known standard for the wide public. MU.LAB almost works in the same way, except that scrolling is done via MMB/RMB as LMB is used for drawing/selecting.

Anyway, i'll check whether i can easily make a preference for it.
