I tend to agree... Wheel scrolling is more natural

Wow, "Edit Shortcuts" has no Shortcut :hihi:
This is actually in my M3 usability txt at home. I agree, it seems strange that the more common operation is more complicated to access.
In fact the functionality was there but due to a bug it's inaccessible.

Fixed in the next version.

Is this repeatable?

Which shortcut did you make?

Was it a keyboard or MIDI shortcut?

yes. it was S for split.

Post

I made a S -> Split shortcut and used it wildely in a composition but no crash.

How to repeat the crash?

Post

I fall on the side where rolling the mouse wheel zooms and clicking it pans around, that for me is incredibly natural and fast.

I didn't find any bugs yet but completely blown away when i tried to load my skin lol i didn't notice at first how much the folder structure has changed but I think it will be better like that.
In the future there will be robots!

I had a project open and then tried to add the S Split key and it crashed. I just tried with a new seesion(No .Wav or MIDI yet)and it created it without crashing.

Regarding upgrading the M27 skins: i'll give detailed info on that soon ;)

Do you remember at what point it crashed:

-> when type the S
-> when choosing the function
-> when clicking OK for that shortcut
-> when clicking Done on the shortcut list panel
-> when using the S shortcut

Maybe, this can be a "preference"...
Yes, it's not a bug but it's about a well designed M3...
Imagine you can scroll using the wheel.
Then [Ctrl]+wheel will zoom in/out.

Should the RMB behaviour be reversed too?

Now it is:

RMB+drag = scroll
[Ctrl]+RMB+drag = zoom

So when the wheel scrolls, should RMB do

RMB+drag = zoom
[Ctrl]+RMB+drag = scroll

?

When I hit ok.

That's strange. Thanks for letting me know. I can't find anything wrong at the moment. Lets keep an eye on it.

M-test 3.0.9 has been distributed.

If you want the mouse wheel to scroll then ensure this line in Settings/Mulab.txt:
EditorNavigation=MouseWheelScrolls

Post

S Split ALL OK here.

Hi,

Congrats for M3, i've received it and i've tried it...
I'd like to give some workflow suggestions thet i consider important (maybe someone already said it):
1-Two Left click in a track to "choose target" and not just one click.
2-When you left click (once) the plugin in a collapsed rack it should expand the rack and open the plugin gui(or instrument).
3-The "close" button in Sequence Editor and in the Audio Lab should be in the right (more intuitive) not in the left.
4-The track mute button is still too small....I'd also like to have a solo track button in there...
5-I know it's on the wishlist, but i do believe that automation breakpoint envelopes will make MULAB better.

thanks a lot

Double Left Click = Insert Note
RMB+drag = scroll

This is congruent with the intention. Dragging is used primarily while composing as on a piece of paper, so one hand operation without Modifier keys which do break the flow.
Zooming is usually used mostly in revisions, correcting here and there, have an overall view etc.

I am making a large assumption here but I am been working with other musicians and designers and it seems to be a common pattern.

Yes. The scrolling with the wheel is so engraved in the window's world that it seems more natural.

Right Click Drag is a kind of a must. One of the best new features in M3. (IMHO) :D
