liquidsound wrote:Ups! Sorry I didn't realize that Shift+RMB defaults to [Ctrl]+RMB.

What I was thinking was that for users with 2-Click Habit they can write a note and then drag around(RMB), which is what we have know : Prefect!

For users with 1-click habit (Reason users for example) they could write and Drag pressing the [Ctrl]+RMB without press/release & press/release etc. the [Ctrl} key.
If a 1-click habit user wants to have [Ctrl]+RMB-drag=scroll, then he can set this preference in Mulab.txt:

EditorNavigation=MouseWheelScrolls

Because then RMB-drag=Zoom and [Ctrl]+RMB-drag=scroll.

Ok?

I always press the spacebar and everything stops. As for "I need to RePosition the cursor. If this is at the beginning of the composition it is easier but if it's in the middle somewhere than is not practical at all."... how is that ?
1 - You have bar numbers so you know where you are.
2 - You have the "snap to grid" option, so the cursor snap to the beginning of the bar you were starting the recording.
It can't be!
Follow exactly my steps.
Once you press RECORD there is no way to stop MuLab from starting to Play/Move.

About repositioning, what you are saying is correct but if you try cue in in a middle of an Audio file then....

Try again my steps: Press Record and try to Freeze MuLab.

liquidsound wrote:BTW (question from a non-tech user) when you say "EditorNavigation" preference! do you mean that is written in Stone or it's something that it's in a text file and can be individually adjusted by the user?
It's a preference in Mulab.txt.

Please do a search on "EditorNavigation" i this topic and you'll find the previous posts about this :)
Thanks Jo for giving us so much leeway in asking for features specially in the work-flow which is what is beginning to be the major difference in all Those Blow-out application out there.
They're having the same issues. Features after features but the work-flow is going in the other direction. MuLab is making a Real Difference. :D
I hope so.

Thank You for all your constructive feedback!

liquidsound wrote:Once I press the Record button there is no way to stop MuLab from going. :o This is due to simplicity, I think, because MuLab doesn't have a Stop button and I like that.
This behavior is good for it allows recording in and out while MuLab is playing.

But if MuLab is not playing (I am starting a new recording from the beginning or from a specific location) and I change my mind I must wait, and the Cursor has moved from that position from which I wanted to Record from.:-o

Maybe there could be a feedback that tells MuLab when we (re-)press the "activated" Record button: "IF the Cursor is not moving THEN Stop, ELSE, keep going." 8)
I understand your point.

Added on the whishlist.

When pasting parts/notes, the paste position is not defined by the playback cursor, but rather by the mouse cursor (snapped to grid)!
Jo, thanks for the tip.
IMHO the paste position should be defined by the playback cursor. Using mouse cursor for that just seems "weird" and confusing to me...
It has been discussed before here on the forum (during the M2 dev cycle IIRC) and we came to this conclusion.

I'm still convinced it's a good way of doing things. Personally i find the mouse cursor position much more relevant as the play cursor position as it is the mouse that you use for editing actions.

Anyway, if the position is not as you want, the dialog allows you to input another position.

I gotcha! Thank you Jo. I hope I am not stretching your nerves.
All these right or unusual requests are participating in making MuLab a really distinctive DAW.
Of course it is up to you when to draw The LINE but until then are role is to try hard up to then (The LINE!!!). :D

No, it's ok. I'm not going to deny that this is a tough period, which can only be maintained for a limited time, but hey we do want to have a nice M3 right?! And nothing comes from nothing ;)

Working on fixing all bugs and on doing the necessary tunings which make M3 a nice comfortable app. on both OSX as on Windows.

At the same time i'm currently already moving new FRs towards the future whishlist, so that M3 can be released asap.

Sure, and you're doing a great thing! Thanks :tu:

I have no idea indeed. Based on the number of sales that's not too many, which is a pity as the sales are needed to survive. Hope the MUTOOLS project can survive. Please spread the word.

Actually I have several ideas but here is not the place to discuss them.
I'll send you a PM and you'll think of those after all the M3 madness cool down :)

I will.
As you know I am a Reason user and many of them are more and more frustrated by the lack of third party plug-ins.
Maybe no the new users, but the ones that have had enough time to really see the sonic limits of Reason ( I am not talking about quantity because Reason enjoy a tremendous reFills inventory, but about quality on the level of z3ta+ or Zebra just to name the few [I'm going to get persecuted for this statement...]). :hihi:

For me this MuLab is by far the best solution for a Reason user due to its simplicity and inherent power (Mux is a fantastic Combinator).

The M3 sequencer is way better that Reason 4 and probably up to Reason X.X.
And already better than most IMHO (so simple and yet flexible and powerful)
Rewire works easily and impeccably.

Cost is not an issue for most of Reason users...
I can go on and on but I leave this for the Reason forum.
Wish me luck. It's a risky business there... :box:

I'm trying to spread the word on KVR with my signature. Don't know if it helps, maybe we all should

I think the most important thing now is to get M3 rock stable. That's almost the most important thing in a host (besides of course workflow and features). The workflow and features are getting there :)

But somehow I keep getting strange crashes from time to time. Right now for instance, I get repeatedly an instant crash when just opening a saved session, play it, from there open a new session, opening a preset from MUTOOLS synhts, for instance Synthia opens, I make a sequence with some notes via clicking the grid, I switch between presets and then decide to exit MU.LAB and click the sign to close, crash..

And that is on my windows XP laptop. I get random crashes on my Vista PC too from time to time. It happens a lot when exiting the program. I really have no idea what causes this on both of my systems (and both systems are completely different in configurations, hardware, drivers, OS, etc.).

Does anyone else having this kind of problems or did you never have any crash in M3 the last weeks?

How many beta testers are there right now (and are active) if I may ask?

I really hope this project will stay alive!!!
