OK so we are left with the price.

I ,by no means, can be called a pro (read: one that can redeem his investment).

In the preceding months I have bought myself an Virtual SSL Compressor (and Virtual SSL Colors - but this is
outside of the scope of this thread).

Now, this Virtual SSL comp doesn't quite Phluckkkkk the same but it otherwise does the job (and then some !).

And if I need a cheap Phluckkkk I'll resort some free comp that was released not so long ago.
I don't know if it Pluckkkks the same but it Phluckkkkks for FREE (Its developer is probably giggling right
now, and saying : "Phluckkk you !! :hihi:")

AAS Pricing structure is out of my reach, much to my dismay

But nevertheless, it DOES sounds GREAT, at least IMvHO :tu:

well, imo they're not at all expensive. considering these are actually 3 plugins with different feature sets, each plugin costs 66.33€ ... not at all too much for a compressor suite that sounds that good and at the same gives you an extremly broad range in areas of operation.

but in the end it's like with everything else: if you want it just too bad, you'll get it. you'll find a way, i.e. saving up money for what you really want.
i know it's not really fair me saying that, as, due to the fact that i partly work for artsacoustic (which i stated in my first post already), i recieved an nfr, but i'm not biassed in this case. i would simply stay out of this thread if i wasn't convinced by these plugs.

in general i still buy my stuff if i really like it, just to support the developers and show them my appreciation. and if it's out of reach for me but i baaadly want it, i do what everyone does: i save up my money for it ...

just for the sake of fairness: if one just doesn't like what come out of whatever gear, it of course just might not be the right thing for him, whether it's considered to be the holy grail for the majority or not ... happens to me too ... i.e. there are a lot of users that love vintage warmer, it doesn't do anything for me personally. on the other hand i love the mix saturator, which sadly isn't mentioned too often here ...

Ummm... <gurgles>

:D

Naa... I'm just being bad

I KNOW that when one believes in something, it's usually the truth (naive, but this is my initial stand point)

If you are such an avid believer, why don't you post some samples... I'd say a Mini-Mix
("I shall call it ... "Mini-Me(x)" :D) with Mix samples of, say, four
tracks playing in a mix, in a Rock context AND in an Electronic track context, showing its REAL
"Phlucckkk" power.
And maybe putting it against the likes of The Glue, Antress Vacumer, Rough Rider FREE (baring
in mind its shortcoming namely the High-Cut thingy), PSP OldTimer.... these are the ones that
immediately spring to (MY) mind.... ALL capable of the "Phlucckk" thing, to some extent (before
they give up and lose their "Phlucckkness" and the things that surround it - to the great beyond... :)).

Those are questions. ha ?...

I actually know VERY well that if one WANTS something, one will get it.

Its just that I, well, "question things from time to time" :P

BTW

I, personally, don't like bundled plugs. a bundle is ONE PRODUCT, period. it doesn't matter if its
comprised of 1 plug or 4553 plugs (Waves anyone ?.... :D). you pay for ONE product, be it one plug
or one bundle.
Its great to "ease the pain" but it doesn't matter much as you STILL have to shell the WHOLE amount... :D

Just saw this. Thank you all for the praise!

We are currently in betastage with the mac versions (AU and VST). Sadly, due to gui implementation weirdness, it took a bit longer than expected, welcome to the software development world. :) If all goes well we expect to release within the next 2 weeks, roughly esthimated.
Kind regards, Nick at ArtsAcoustic

I'm still learning to use these as I haven't yet mixed a whole piece with them but I'm beginning to feel that these will be indispensable for me. They just have a certain unique vibe/feeling to them. I'm especially impressed with the way the preamp/tube emulation/input drive thing sounds. Even if I'm not after compression at all I pull out the CL compressor just for this saturation color alone!

I also like it very much on wide open attack, fast release, settings. It can really make things smack in a nice way.

The only situation where I've had some issues with these compressors are with sources that I do not want to changed tonally. In these cases I usually go for something non-modeling, like Pro-C (it's gain transfer curve/program dependency is based on some analogue classics but there is no saturation nor component modeling going on), Bluecat Dynamics or the good old MjCompressor.

I'm still in the process of writing a full review of these as I plan to kick start a new "all about compressors" thread with tons of audio examples.. I just need to find the time to CREATE all those audio examples as nobody provided me any! :help:

Cheers!

Unfortunately no.. we had some water damage in the studio (not as bad as it sounds) so it'll be a while until I'll have a chance to record more example material and do proper a proper review. I'm actually trying to re-start the "all about compressors" thread and do it much more thoroughly with more real world examples and tips/tricks but it's a huge task and paid work always comes first. :(

ahh, what a shame ... would love to hear the stuff you come up with ... but of course, getting all back to safness first is priority ... good luck, hope nothing went downhill and all is working at your place ...
however, post the stuff here as soon as you got it done, i'm really keen on what you come up with ...

We got really lucky considering what could have been the case. There's been a LOT of snowfall here in southern Finland the whole winter. Some swear they have not seen this much snow in central Helsinki in over 50 years. This means a lot of weight and compression on roofs. Our studio is on the highest floor of a small two story building. We have a metal sheet roof which has the usual damping/wood work for support and then dividing our apartment to the actual inner roof is a solid concrete/concrete-slab kind of thing.

This is what probably has happened: During the last few weeks of slightly warmer outside temperatures (around -2 to -5 degrees Celsius) the snow has begun to melt at the contact patch with the roof due to warming from the room temperature inside. When this snow turns into water it is pressed hard by the snow layer above it and thus forces itself in through any cracks that it can find. It's enough to have some small vent or drain which has poor isolation (old rubber isolation for instance) for the water to leak inside.

Now that the weather is colder again the leak stopped and we had a chance to find the hole that caused it to come all the way inside our apartment. The bad thing is that there IS still water somewhere inside the roof complex and there WILL BE more water when spring approaches and all the snow melts. This also suggests that this leak wasn't the first time it happened and indeed we found records of leaks over 10 years ago in the same apartment and nobody had bothered to fix it properly. Ultimately this means that the inner roof is probably in very bad condition and swamped with mold thus meaning a complete and total overhaul of the whole roof complex. This will for sure halt our work for at least a month or perhaps even two during the summer.. provided that we can get the person/company/whoever owns the whole apartment complex to understand the severity of the situation and for them to take action!

Anyhow.. sorry for the offtopic stuff. It's nice to get this stuff off my chest. You can ALL HELP to get the "all about compressors" thread up and running properly again. What I need are royalty free/cleared audio clips of any instrument/vocal/mix/whatever you have that I can use as examples! Preferably as untreated as possible, aka the raw sound of the instrument/vocal/mix/whatever. Most of the stuff I'm working on in the studio is too tedious or hard to get full clearance for so I've ended up recording my own examples but that takes time (and courage coz my playing and singing voice sucks big time! :P ).

I'm also not familiar enough with the Arts Acoustic compressors to be able to give enough good real-world examples of where they shine. I mean, it didn't take long to realize just how brilliant they sound (approximately 2 seconds) but it's a whole other ball game to actually USE them as tools and not as drool material. I simply need to mix a few whole tunes with them in my toolset to properly learn them and hopefully get over the honeymoon period. :D

Cheers!

In the US this condition, at least in the northeast, is referred to as an ice dam. It occurs precisely as you noted, and the water can leak in any location it might get to, like around windows. Not much can be done until things melt on the roof.

for the price and testing demo, i will recomend liquid mix 16.
More powerfull, no power consum, hardware controller, an lots of eqs and comps . . .

of, course its my choice.

Pleazzzz no dongles, (will be cracked for ssure in the next weeks) and more reduced prices, or selling separatly . . .
(find solutions to be more competitive)

hmmm, liquid mix is great, no question, but:
no cpu usage is not true, the data streaming to and from the dsp's cost quite a bit of cpu always. also the whole dsp management costs cpu sa well. also you have only 8 stereo channels.
now, in contrary, the artsacoustic cl series
1. barely touches the cpu in general, these plugins are extremly efficient
2. you're in no way limited to 8 stereo channel-use only,
3. and this is most important: they're mentioned here because they're providing a sound no other digital compressor/limiter is capable of. they simply sound unbelievably good.

well, the artsacoustic cl series is serial protected, so i don't see the reason why you mention this here. and i don't know how you see this, but i would call the liquid mix 16 a quite big dongle ... :)
