Hi folks,
I've reimplemented the 24db/oct (4 pole) "digital" filters tonight, and they almost sound the same as the Virus TI 24dB/oct filters. Will post some sound samples tomorrow once I calibrate some parameters
The only trick I've noticed in the Virus filters is that they use dynamics processing within the filter itself. Once you add that to a digital filter, that's it

BTW, the 24 db/oct Virus TI filters dont have a click at the beginning of their filter sweeps, whereas the 12 db/oct ones do have that feature. Interesting implementation...

Hi everyone. I finally, "finalized" the new requirements for new filter types. There will be 12 types of filters:
LowPass
HighPass
BandPass
BandStop
LowShelve
HighShelve
Allpass
Comb
Peaking
Dual LP-LP
Dual LP-HP
Dual HP-HP
For the new "dual" filters, the mix between the two filters and the topology (parallel/series) are adjustable continuous parameters as well
Of course, we'll have digital and analog versions of each type.
For the bandpass/bandstop filters in v2.0, they'll be upgraded as dual LP-HP filters.

Hi folks,
Quick update:
For the 12 dB "Digital" versions of the following filters I finished the implementation last night, including before/after/inside filter distortions:
LowPass
HighPass
BandPass
BandStop
LowShelve
HighShelve
Allpass
Comb
Peaking
Dual LP-LP
Dual LP-HP
Dual HP-HP
For the dual filters, when the distortion order is "inside" the distortion is applied in between the 2 filters that form the dual filter.
Now I'm heading to completing the 24 dB versions and finally the "analog" versions.
Hopefuly by the end of this Saturday I'll have a "development" build to post on the web site
I'll announce its link via email to you guys.

Hi folks,
I started working on the "analog" filters again after finishing the "digital" model. Looking at the Sherman filterbank user manual, I think I'll make the filter "type" parameter continuous as well between LP-BP-HP
Also, I'm drawing the exact frequency response of the "analog" filters now so "what you see is what you get"

i think the next update will come earliest april..
usually was planed only moog filter and new reverb, and now?^^ Virus, sherman etc...
so as little idea, if the filter-emu's works fine, why you don't make a single filter-vst?

Or how about this:Cyforce wrote: so as little idea, if the filter-emu's works fine, why you don't make a single filter-vst?
Add "Audio input" as an oscillator type, i.e. the oscillator passes the audio input as its output. Then use the filters in SM2 to filter the audio input?
Isnt that a better solution?

No would eat more cpu than a little filter-vst-effect
And such mutli-emulation filter would be as additonal product better to get kv331 better known

I like the sound of that and would rather see SM2 developed further than a new plugin started. The audio in could then potentially just act as any other voice in the synth and so could be turned on and off using MIDI notes and allow MSEGS, envelopes, LFOs etc to control parameters as in SM2kv331 wrote:Or how about this:Cyforce wrote: so as little idea, if the filter-emu's works fine, why you don't make a single filter-vst?

Besides SM2 is CPU light as it is so no need to worry about that

Ricardo Riccs has been updating our homepage and hopefuly after the 2.1 release we'll update the web site as well.

Minor change:
Instead of having 3 separate filters : Dual LPLP, LPHP, HPHP, We'll have one Dual-Multi filter where the filter type for filter 1/2 is switchable between LP-BP-HP continuously. We'll have a single-Multi version of that as well.
Having thought of that, I think a filter can not be more versatile than this design
And that's the "end" for now for the filter designs. One thing "remaining" : audio rate Filter modulation. Which will be added after I release the Mac OSX versions. My "boss" will kill me if I dont start that asap. (The "boss" ? Guess who SHE is
)
As we discussed above I'll add the possibility to route the audio input to the oscillators as well so this'll open up a lot of possibilities for using the filters in SM as FX

Could it be possible to make dedicated insert slots for vst compatible effects inside SM (SM as a vst host for its effect section or filter section)?
