Isn't it that they have to charge tax if they have a presence in the state you order from? I think I've ordered from them (from NC or SC) and not got charged tax.
i thought so, but maybe guitar center is centered in Arizona. (where im currently living..) I always thought there center was in kansas though. hmm, maybe that was musicians friend.

idk though, a friend also bought from them recently, and he got charged tax, so while rare, it is a possibility that they have to charge tax. Either way i still feel ripped off paying tax online. lol, how spoiled online shopping has made us. :P
If they have a store (or a distribution center) in your state then they have to charge your state's sales tax, that's the law. The only way around it for them is to have a separate company for online sales only... which they kind of do in Musician's Friend.

Anyway, I think we should move this topic to the 'discussions' thread..

Thomann has Eastwest RA for 169€ which is a hard price to beat I believe... And the sounds are very very good too.

Glad you found it useful!

On that note, Guitar Center is at it again with another coupon, this time $30 off when you spend $199 or more (on select products). This is good from 5/20-5/24.

Because of the online tax situation, I'm really hoping they do something like a 15% discount or more type of deal soon to help offset the sales tax sting a little better; maybe for Memorial Day? :D

Just got an email from Novation I thought might be of interest to some:

Novation are offering all Nocturn 25 and Nocturn 49 users a free software bundle, comprising the powerful V-station and Bass station software synths, Automap Pro and the Novation FX Suite.

To get the free software, simply register your Nocturn Keyboard online, and Novation will send you license codes and download links to the free software.

The offer is open to all Nocturn 25 and 49 owners, whether you already have one, or are buying one new.

I had already registered my Nocturn 49 some time ago. I wrote to Novation and am still awaiting a reply. I just logged into My Novation and 'updated' my already registered product. I immediately received this message:
Congratulations!
You have qualified for the Nocturn Keyboard Synth Bundle!

What does this mean?
You have received some free software products in your 'My products' section of you Novation user account. In here you will be able to find the license codes for the new software products. Also, the codes will be sent to your email address. These emails will contain instructions how to get up and running with the software.

We hope you enjoy you new product!

Novation Music
So, my advice is to 'update' your registrated product in your My Novation A/C if you had previously registed your qualifying product!

Another good deal on the Cakewalk store: Amplitude 2 Live for $39.99 (with SAVE20 coupon).

Not as good as the $19.99 it was last week, but still a nice deal.

Of course if you're considering that, you may as well pony up another $30 and get the IK Essentials kit (Amplitude 2 Live + SampleTank L + T-RackS Classic) for $69.99 from Musicians Friend. That's still a killer deal. (Buy it via amazon.com and you'll even get free shipping!)

Fair enough. Luckily it's only a good will plug as they've done me some nice deals over the years. They couldn't help me last time though so I had to cross the pennines and go to Johnny Roadhouse for this deal on an Electro-Acoustic.
